Subject: - Statistics Semester Six Academic year 2023-2024

Faculty: -information technology Instructor: Eng Cali Sidow Osman Assignment (2) -XASAN ABSHIR

PART ONE: WRITE TRUE (T) OR FALSE (F)

1) Statistic is defined as collection, compilation, analysis and interpretation of numerical
data. Or Statistics is the science of data ( T )
2) Descriptive statistics is the branch of statistics that involves organizing, displaying, and
describing data. Or Methods of organizing, summarizing, and presenting data in an
informative way ( T ).
3) Inferential Statistics is the branch of statistics that involves drawing conclusions about a
population based on information contained in a sample taken from that population. (T)
4) Standard deviation is always positive. Standard deviation will be zero if all the data values
are equal, and will get larger as the data spreads out ( F ).
5) The mean of a set of values is the sum of the values divided by the number of values. It is
also called the average ( T ).
6) Data Analysis is a process of gathering, modeling, and transforming data with the goal of
highlighting useful information, suggesting conclusions, and supporting decision making (
T ) .
7) A method used to examine inflation rate anticipation, unemployment rate and capacity
utilization to produce products is classified as Forecasting Technique ( T ).
8) The Class width (midpoint) the number in the middle of the class. It is found by adding
the upper and lower limits and dividing by two. ( F )
9) A numerical value used as a summary measure for a sample, such as a sample mean, is
known as a Population Parameter ( F ).
10) Class marks the difference between the upper and lower boundaries of any class. The
class width is also the difference between the lower consecutive classes or the upper limit
of two consecutive classes ( F ).
11) ( T ) A numerical value used as a summary measure for a sample, such as a sample mean, is
known as a Sample Statistic.
12) ( T ) To enhance a procedure the control charts and procedures of descriptive statistics are
classified into Behavioral Tools.
13) ( T ) Sample statistics are also represented as Roman Letters.
14) ( T ) The variables whose calculation is done according to the weight, height and
length and weight are known as Continuous Variables.
15) ( T ) A method used to examine inflation rate anticipation, unemployment rate and
capacity utilization to produce products is classified as Forecasting Technique.
16) ( T ) The specific statistical methods that can be used to summarize or to describe a
collection of data are called Descriptive statistics.
17) ( T ) A population, in statistical terms, is the totality of things under consideration. It is
the collection of all values of the Instance that is under study.
18) ( T ) Both the sampling as well as the non-sampling errors must be reduced to a
minimum in order to get as representative a sample of the Group as possible.
19) ( T ) In Quantitative type of classification, the data is grouped together according to
some distinguished characteristic or attribute, such as religion, sex, age, national origin,
and so on.
20) ( F ) The degree of randomness of selection would depend upon the process of selecting
the items from the Population.
