1. Introduction
This configuration is assumed that a working Bynari InsightServer has been
installed. It will also show a basic configuration for Mdaemon server.

2. InsightServer Configuration
• Download the LDAP client .zip file and extract the contents using an
unzip/decompress utility, such as WinZip.
• Make sure the version of Outlook that has already been installed is XP
and that you already have an account activated on your Insight Server or
other IMAP server of your choice.
• Disable any Anti Virus software AND services associated with the AV
software.
• Outlook should be closed before installing the Insight LDAP Client. After
Outlook has been closed, run the LDAP Client installation utility and install
the files to the programs folder of C drive.
• When the installation is complete, open Outlook, and this screen should
appear:
• Type in the LDAP server address, in this case [Link]
• Put a check in “Send messages to recipients from this server in Rich Text
Format”
• Click ‘Search’ and type in “c=us”, then click ‘Next…’.
• This is a snapshot of the different groups on the InsightServer. Basically
there are two ‘Organizations’: Top Level and MS Exchange. Top level has
groups: Group 2 and Next Level.
• Once you have clicked “Next”, you will get this screen:
• Click the + button to expand, and it will list all you Organizations listed
from the Server. Click on the + next to the Organizations, and it will
display all the groups under it (if you created some). Have all
Organizations and Groups checked. And click ‘OK’.
• You will be returned to the main LDAP configuration screen.
• (Optional) Click on the ‘Advanced’ tab, and put a check under “Display
subcontainers contents of the LDAP…”
• Click ‘OK’, and restart Outlook. If at any point you need to edit your LDAP
configuration, go to Tools | E-mail Accounts (It is called Services in
Outlook 2000). Then double click your Bynari LDAP Address Book.
3. Mdaemon Configuration
• Download the LDAP client .zip file and extract the contents using an

• After you have installed the Bynari LDAP client, open up your MDaemon
server. Go to Setup | LDaemon / Address book options | LDAP Options
tab.
• Copy down the information that is listed under ‘Base Entry DN’. In this
case: ou=ComAgent Public Contacts, o=[Link], c=US
• When the installation is complete, open Outlook, and this screen should
appear:
• Type in the LDAP server address, in this case [Link]
• Put a check in “Send messages to recipients from this server in Rich Text
Format”
• The information you copied from the MDaemon server (“ou=ComAgent
Public Contacts, o=[Link], c=US”), paste or type that into the
bottom blank box under ‘Container DNs’
• Click on the ‘Advanced’ tab. Under ‘Default Search’, you will notice the
“objectclass” under ‘Default Search’, this need to be changed, depending
on what server you are using. In the MDaemon server you can check
what it needs to be by going to Setup | Ldaemon / Address book options |
LDAP options tab.
• Under ‘Object Class’, copy the value that is in there, in this case:
MDaemonContact ; and paste it in after the “=” sign in objectclass. Remove
whatever other value was in there before. You will then have:
(objectclass=MDaemonContact)
• Click ‘OK’, and restart Outlook. If at any point you need to edit your LDAP
configuration, go to Tools | E-mail Accounts (It is called Services in
Outlook 2000). Then double click your Bynari LDAP Address Book.
• Add the Base entry DN (address book) as follows
