Materials Science Course Overview
Materials Science Course Overview
This course is considered essential and basic for any engineer in any
field, since they handle or are in direct or indirect contact with materials on a
daily basis. Nowadays, companies and industries manufacture and market
high-quality products in order to satisfy the increasingly demanding needs of
society. This is achieved in part because engineers are increasingly better able
to combine the properties of the various existing materials with their atomic
structure, their ease of obtaining and processing, their cost, etc. This is a basic
knowledge course on materials that serves to identify and classify them, select
them in order to achieve their optimal application and performance.
The purpose of this subject, after the student has completed all the
activities and experiences of the course, is to become aware of the types of
materials available. Know your general behavior and capabilities, as well as
the effects of the environment and operating conditions on the performance of
the materials.
