I had very little knowledge of the origin, history, artists, and the message

that the painting, sculpture, or literature conveys, and even the deeper
understanding of art, because the meaning of art that I only know is that it involves
drawing, painting, and expression of your thoughts and feelings through a written
piece or song and dance but I realized there's more beneath the surface. Again, I had
very little knowledge of these things until as days went by while I was studying,
reading, and memorizing some difficult terms, it gave me interest in diving deeper
into what is behind art. I empowered myself to learn and understand them. And it
started when there was this one topic that captured my interest, the music and
dance genres in chapter 7.

I like the lesson in chapter 5, the language of art: elements and the
principles of design. I gained a deeper understanding of how the different elements
of art are used in art works/pieces, but music and dance genres really stand out and
captured my interest, specifically the origin and history of our own music. Ever since
I was 10 years old, I used to sing some Pinoy music and then became a fan of local
artists, but as time went by and my priorities shifted and my likes changed, I lost
interest in it, so when I hear a familiar song, it remains familiar only without knowing
the title and the artist. Especially when I became busy and focused on my studies, I
lacked time to check updates of newly published songs and artists that debuted or
were new in the Philippine music industry. Until it so happened that all those
memories of me being a local fan way back in my elementary and high school years
revived because of this course on art appreciation; it made me fall in love with our
own music once again. Little did I know music is a product of art.

Life is short, and the road is still long and wide. That's why I always tell
myself "all is well" and take a moment to grasp and discover the abilities we've
hidden because of not embracing it, and one of those is appreciating our love for art,
discovering its beauty. Maybe we could find out our inner peace in the beauty we've
witnessed. A therapeutic solace, comfort, and pastime it is.
