1. a An n-channel MOSFET having Vt=1V acts as a resistance of 500Ω for small values 6 3 3
of VDS when VGS=3V.
i. If VGS is changed to 6V for small values of V DS, what is the resistance
offered by the MOSFET?
ii. When VGS=VDS=4V, determine the drain current.
iii. Determine the Transconductance when VGS=VDS=3V.
b Explain the operation of CMOS AND gate. 4 2 2
2. a A voltage amplifier needs 2mV input to give a 10V output. When negative feedback 6 3 2
is provided to this amplifier, it needs 200mV to deliver the same output. Determine
the open loop gain in dB, closed loop gain in dB, feedback factor and amount of
feedback in dB for this amplifier.
b Prove that the stability of the gain of an amplifier with negative feedback is (1+Aβ) 4 2 2
times better compared to that of the amplifier without feedback.
3. a Write the truth table for SUM and CARRYOUT of a full adder. From the truth table, 6 3 2
obtain the logic expression for the same and realize full adder using 2 half adders.
b A logic circuit has 3 inputs A, B and C and 2 outputs X and Y. Output X is 1, only 4 1 1
when any two of the inputs are at 1 and Y is 1, only when any one of the inputs is at
[Link] the truth table and the logic expressions for X and Also realize the logic
circuit using only NAND gates.
4. a Simplify the following Boolean expressions using Boolean postulates and realize the 6 3 3
simplified expression using basic gates.
i) Y=XY+XYZ+XYZ’+X’YZ
ii) Y=AB+A’C+BC
b Starting from the logic expression, realize XNOR gate using minimum number of 4 2 2
NAND gates.
5. a Explain the operation of 8:1 multiplexer along with the truth table and logic 4 2 2
expression. Also realize the logic circuit using basic gates.
b The four variable function f is given in terms of min-terms as 6 3 3
f(A,B,C,D)=∑m(0,1,2,3,5,7,8,9,11,14).Using the K-map minimize the function and
realize using basic gates.
