1. PHOBIAS AND FEARS OF PEOPLE

• Deep water phobias and fears of people are two very different types of phobias,
but they canbe intertwined in some cases.
• Deep water phobia, also known as thalassophobia, is a fear of deep bodies of
water, such asthe ocean, sea, or large lakes. People with thalassophobia may
be afraid of the vastness of thewater, the creatures that live in it, or the
possibility of drowning. They may experienceanxiety and panic atacks when
they are near deep water, and they may avoid actvites suchas swimming,
boatng, and fishing.
• Fear of people, also known as social phobia, is a fear of social situatons and
interactions withother people. People with social phobia may be afraid of being
judged, evaluated, orembarrassed in front of others. They may avoid social
gatherings, public speaking, and eveneveryday interactons with friends and
colleagues
