filled up
b) Check sand filter inlet/outlet valve and ensure it should be in open
position
c) Check raw water storage tank valve should be in open position
d) Check Power supply in Plumbing Panel / Water softening plant panel, it
should be in specified limits
e) Switch ON the water feeder pump
f) Check the Hardness of water at softener outlet
g) If the hardness is more than 10 PPM, the regeneration is required to be
carried out in the following sequence -

Backwash:( To be conducted after 8 hours of operations of WTP)

1) Close the inlet supply valve of softener and open outlet valve and
drain valve
2) Check the In/Outlet valve position of domestic water pump, it should
be in open position
3) Check the power supply of the pump, it should be healthy
4) Switch on the pump for backwash

Salt Charging:
1) Mix salt in water in agilator tank properly
2) Change salty water in softener tank and close inlet/outlet valve for
at least twenty five minutes
3) Open the domestic water line inlet valve and softener drain valve,
close the outlet valve.

Rinsing:
1) Run the pump for 5 minutes to drain salty water
2) Check the hardness of water at softener outlet
3) If it is less than 10 PPM open outlet valve and close the drain line
valve
4) Switched off the domestic pump after filling the soft water tank to
the required level
5) If there is any abnormality in the system inform supervisor/ shift in
charge immediately.

ii) Operational Safety

a) Operator should wear proper PPE
b) Ensure all rotating parts guard-covers are in place.
