Nourishing our love for God and love for our Neighbors during the
Pandemic Lockdown
During the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, nurturing our love for our God
and our Neighbor became a challenge for 2 years. But despite the physical
distancing measures and the restrictions on gatherings, we made sure to still have a
connection with God and our neighbors. It fostered spiritual growth and it
strengthened our bonds with others during those trying times.
Through prayer, we find comfort in seeking God's love and grace, knowing
we are not alone and everything will get better soon. My family and I utilized
technology to attend online services and have regular online prayer meetings every
Thursday. It helped me and my family get closer, it cultivated our spirits and
because of that, we never lost hope that things would go back to the way they
were.
The pandemic lockdown also became a barrier for contact due to social
distancing and because people were too scared to go outside. During the middle of
the lockdown, because of the lack of supplies available and the limitations of
income/job, my family donated some food and supplies to all our neighbors in our
street to extend our kindness and to support my neighbors in these difficult times.
We also participated in packing and giving relief goods in our Barangay, made
possible by our SK chairman and Barangay Captain at that time. These acts of
kindness gave me a sense of responsibility and wholeheartedness in giving
assistance to those in need.
In conclusion, the pandemic lockdown presented us with opportunities to
deepen our love for God and neighbor amidst the barriers such as physical
distancing and isolation. We nourish our love for God and love for our neighbors
through prayer, reflection, and acts of compassion, we were able to connect and
share humanity in the face of challenges in those dark times.
