SMART GOAL QUALITY

The SMART goal framework is a method used to create clear, actionable, and achievable goals. Each letter
of SMART stands for a specific quality that helps ensure the goal is well-defined and reachable. Here’s
what each letter represents:

S - Specific
A goal should be clear and specific, answering the "who," "what," "where," "when," and "why."
Example: Instead of "Get better at public speaking," a specific goal could be "Join a local Toastmasters
group to practice public speaking skills twice a month."

M - Measurable
The goal should have measurable outcomes so you can track progress and know when the goal is
achieved. Ask yourself "How much?" or "How many?"
Example: "Increase sales by 15% in the next 6 months."

A - Achievable
The goal should be realistic and attainable, taking into consideration available resources, skills, and time. It
should push you, but not be too far out of reach.
Example: "Complete an online course in digital marketing in 3 months," assuming you have the time and
resources to dedicate.

R - Relevant
The goal should be important to you and aligned with other relevant goals or values. It should make sense
in the context of your overall personal or professional development.
Example: "Improve writing skills by writing 500 words a day for the next month," if improving writing
aligns with your career aspirations.

T - Time-Bound
The goal should have a clear deadline or time frame by which it should be accomplished. This helps create
urgency and motivation.
Example: "Finish the project proposal by the end of this week."

Example of a SMART Goal:

Specific: I will complete an online certification in digital marketing.

Measurable: I will finish all the modules and pass the final exam with at least 85%.
Achievable: I will dedicate 5 hours a week to the course over the next 8 weeks.
Relevant: This certification will help me qualify for marketing roles in my field.
Time-Bound: I will complete the course within 8 weeks from today.

By making your goals SMART, you ensure they are actionable, focused, and more likely to be achieved
successfully.
