The study of Language is essential in real-world situations. It goes beyond just
looking at the words themselves and explores how meaning is created through the
way we speak, write, and interact with each other. This includes things like how we
use pauses, how we understand well-written texts, and how we interpret what
people mean even when they don't say it directly.

a. Exploration (Activity) “Analyze the Picture”


The teacher will flash a picture and let the students think of what do they
understand about the picture. After which, the teacher will ask the students
the following questions.
● What story do you think is happening in this picture?
● What do see when you look at this picture?
● What is the main focal point of the picture?

b. Firming Up (Analysis)
● What kinds of details did students notice in the pictures?
● What different perspectives did students bring to their analysis?
● How did students use language to describe their observations and
interpretations?

c. Deepening (Abstraction)
● What is Discourse Analysis?
● What are the difference between Coherence and Cohesion?
● What is Turn-taking?
● How important is Discourse Analysis?

d. Transferring (Application)

Ask the students to think about a social media post that gets a lot of different
opinions. What do you notice about how people talk to each other in the
comments? Are there any words or phrases that certain groups of people
use more often? Write it in a 1/2 crosswise paper.
