To Heaven ,
Hello child,
How are you?How is Heaven?
We all miss you here on earth, miss your sweet, innocent smile and angelic presence . The way
you viewed everything and everyone with a heart overflowing with positivity. I may not have
given you birth but I would do anything to have you smiling and riding my back again,to see your
face and curl myself up in the world’s best cuddles.I will always love you ,wait for me to hold you
again in my arms.
I stand a bereaved father who wishes to scream out his pain before you, although it is too dark to hear.
With every silent moment, sorrow weighs heavily, until the silence is pierced-only by the unbroken
sorrow that dwells in the receiver of silence.I hear the sorrow in the tears of my wife, the mother, and my
heart aches from her unending grief. They see her pain, they feel her loss, the physical connection she
bore to our child is a visible and entirely understandable source of grief. .But I see other things, angels,
the thing mostly unseen. The pain sits heavily, unspoken: I am the father. I did not carry them in the flesh,
but I do carry them in the landscape of my heart. I held that little hand, and felt the weight of that head on
my [Link] world sees me as strong, sees me as standing tall, sees me as the rock that cannot
crumble. Their words to me speak of stoicism, of duty, of responsibility. In their eyes, the physical bond
not existing between us is such that my grief should be lessened, diluted, unworthy of the
acknowledgment of pain. They expect me to grieve quietly, to grieve behind my own walls.
But, my Heavenly One's, please do not mistake the strength of my spirit for a lack of pain. The father-
child bond is bonded with thin, invisible threads spun by love, hope, and a protective instinct that has
been crushed. Woven by the heart, not by flesh, its rupture creates wounds just as enormous and filled
with excruciating pain. I ask you only to observe my grief, to observe the shattered heart of the father, to
feel the love that now pours out without a recipient on this earth. I ask that you be able to understand that
in its quiet expression, a father's pain speaks of love that has no limits of biology. Grant me the strength to
bear that burden and also to have the grace to grieve and allow that wonderful loss to reshape my being.
From
Strong Father
