Chapter 6
Laplace Transform
Inverse Laplace Transform
LAPLACE TRANSFORM
The Laplace transform is a linear operator that switched a function f(t) to F(s)
Transform time function to unit function
Used to describe system behavior
We assume LTI systems
Uses S-domain instead of frequency domain
LAPLACE TRANSFORM
Applications of Laplace Transforms
Circuit analysis
Easier than solving differential equations
Provides the general solution to any arbitrary wave (not just LRC)
Transient
Sinusoidal steady-state-response (Phasors)
Signal processing
Communications
Definitely useful for Interviews!
LAPLACE TRANSFORM
LAPLACE TRANSFORM
Use notations for Laplace Transform pairs – Refer to the table!
LAPLACE TRANSFORM PROPERTIES
The Laplace Transform has many difference properties
Refer to the table for these properties
INVERSE LAPLACE TRANSFORM
Opposite operation of the Laplace transform
Switched a function F(s) to f(t)
Transform unit function to time function
