This plan is aimed at the rehabilitation of the Mangonbangon River, which is a waterway here in

Tacloban City a very polluted one. The river has suffered from unregulated waste disposal, agricultural
runoff and urbanization which can lead to serious health hazards and is already a threat on the
ecosystem and its biodiversity. The focus of this project is to improve the river’s water quality, maintain
the ecological balance and to improve its ecosystem.

 Phase 1 - Environmental Assessment and Hydrological Study (6 months):


o Conduct comprehensive environmental assessment of Mangonbangon River.
o Perform hydrological study to understand the river's flow dynamics.
o Identify major pollution sources and assess the extent of ecological damage.
 Phase 2 - Rehabilitation Plan Formulation (6 months):
o Develop a detailed rehabilitation plan in consultation with stakeholders.
o Incorporate waste management and pollution prevention strategies.
o Design afforestation and green infrastructure initiatives.
 Phase 3 - Construction of Sewerage Treatment Plant (12 months):
o Initiate the construction of a state-of-the-art sewerage treatment plant.
o Implement advanced treatment technologies for effective wastewater purification.
o Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards.
 Phase 4 - Implementation (6 months):
o Enforce laws and regulations related to waste management and water quality.
o Install water treatment facilities and pollution control measures.
o Undertake wetlands restoration and riparian vegetation planting.
 Phase 5 - Monitoring and Evaluation (12 months):
o Establish a water quality monitoring system.
