Checkpoint Examination

PRIMARY & LOWER SECONDARY


CHECKPOINT
 Checkpoint tests are external assessment tests that are marked by Cambridge
examiners.

 The aim of checkpoint tests is to: provide a cumulative measure of performance

at the end of the primary and Lower secondary learning phase. It helps

identify students' strengths and weaknesses from test-result analysis.


Lower Secondary Subjects
English : Paper 1(Non- Fiction) & Paper 2 (Fiction) – Duration: 1 hour 10 minutes each

Mathematics : Paper 1 (Non- Calculator) & Paper 2 (Calculator)– Duration: 1 hour

each Science: Paper 1 and 2 – Duration: 45 minutes each


Primary Subjects

English :Paper 1 (Non- Fiction) & Paper 2 (Fiction) - Duration: 1 hour each Mathematics:

Paper 1(Non- Calculator) & Paper 2(Calculator) – Duration: 45 minutes each Science:

Paper 1 and 2 – Duration: 35 minutes each


New Grading system
 In January 2023, Cambridge introduced new performance bands for Checkpoint
examination.
 The new performance bands are as follows:

Cambridge Checkpoint scores Performance Band

0 Unclassified

1-10 Basic
11-20 Aspiring

21-30 Good

31-40 High
41-50 Outstanding

•Learners scoring between 41 and 50 are showing an outstanding level of achievement.

•Learners scoring between 31 and 40 are showing a high level of achievement.

•Learners scoring between 21 and 30 are showing a good level of achievement.

•Learners scoring between 11 and 20 are achieving between a basic and good level of

achievement.
•Learners scoring between 1 and 10 are showing a basic level of achievement.

Examination Dates

11th April 2025 to 29th April 2025


Exam Fee Structures

 Lower Secondary : MK 1,100,000 to MK 1,200,000 for the three subjects

Primary : MK 600,000 to MK 800,000 for the three subjects

 Payment dates : 13th November 2024 to 29th December 2024


❖ Late entry fee (after 1st January 2025): £50 per

subject on top of the actual examination fee

❖ Please note that the examination fees are non-refundable.


NOTE

 A child shall only sit for an exam if both the examination fee as well as the
tuition fees have been paid in full.
 Paramount International Academy will withhold the release of the academic
results until all financial obligations are met.
EXAMINATION ENTRY PROCEDURE
 Send in a copy of the canidates birth ceertificate/
passport/ ID. Information is put the system and we generate a
ststaement of entry. On the form take note of:
 Name
 Date of birth Gender
 First statement will show (UNSUBMITTED) When all fees are paid and
 confirmed the statement will then reflect as (COMPLETE)

 Checkpoint results are released in June. They are released

online before the hard copy is sent.
