Site selection justifications
We select the area because it fulfills the requirements of site selection to build a residential
building . Since the requirements of site for buildings with different occupancies are different
relatively the site we selected fulfills those criterias for a residential building.

1. Interms of topography : the site we selected is found in between cobblestone roads and flat in
shape and it has a good transportation facilities.

2. Interms of soil : it is not made up type, red in color and there is no need further soils from
other place to build a house also there is no fear to crack a building after some time because the
soil is not made up type and can't come from other place.

3. Interms of climate , solar orientation , and prevailing wind : there is better climate conditions
and good temperature . Since the site is near to Lake Tana and Abay river there some prevailing
winds but not too much and as the site is rectangular in shape it is not exposed to the prevailing
wind and noon solar radiation . Orientation of the site also has some advantages in early morning
sun and late evening sun is accepted in the building in summer and maximum sun light is
available in most of winter.

The site is large enough both to ensure the building abundant light and air to prevent any over
dominance by the neighboring buildings2. The site command a good view of landscape as there
is Lake Tana and Abay River also the buildings around them are really good in view.

4. Inyerms of noise source the residential house site is located away from the busy commercial
roads like Abay road , Haile sellassie road and is not near to workshops, factories, so there is
less noise .

[Link] of infrastructure : There is a mani road called Abay and Hailesilase near the site at
some distance to go to college, school, office and market. And there is Shum Abo primary and
secondary school near site and preferable for the clients children to go to them without any
transportation because the schools are located near site. There is Gambi hospital at some distance
from the site so the client can get the access easily. Here are list of reasons why we select the
site.
