WORK METHODOLOGY
TSS and TSSR : Estimation & Analyzing of fiber path crossing, distance, Hand hales,Manholes, breaking and reinstatement areas, passing in dam s, swamp area ,drainage and
trust boring and include them in quantity BOQ.
Generate kmz files, engineering drawings, survey report .
Obtaining permit to work- All As built drawing and a letter of Permit request will be submitted to relevant Authorities such TANROAD, TARURA and Maswa Urban Water
Supply and Sanitation Authority (MAUWSA) prior commencement of excavation work
MOBILIZATION (TOOLS & TEAM, MATEARIALS)- Material request, collection and transport to site using approved vehicle(T 845 DKZ, T473 DPU)
And team transport to site using - T 773 CND
Site Location and Marking
The Layout survey shall be conducted before and after the excavation, if required, at site
The underground services such as, pipe lines, cables or any other underground/ over ground service are to be identified by th e field survey before commencing of any
execution. Excavation of these identified services shall be confined by using cable detector (CAT 4) and by excavating PILOT HOLES 50 meters apart on the line of excavation
The Location of each excavation shall be verified by any of the existing route marker peg or by means of hand dig trial pit (PILOT HALE) at every 50 meters or less (if
required).
Manual excavation is to be done within 1.0meter surrounding the existing utilities (if any)
Trenching- During excavation hand tools will be used such as Hoe, Spade, Pickaxe, Axe and Bush knife to attain a standard of 1.5m deep and 0.5m wide.
Benching method will be used so as to protect casuals from cave-ins by excavating the side of trenches

Backfilling-This will be done manually by the Casuals, by no circumstances should trench left OPEN
Accessing the OPEN Trench- Team will use Fiber Optic coated ladders to access trenches
The team will balance between trenching distance and the backfilling distance per day.
Bridge attachment- All bridge will be crossed by using existing sleeve constructed on Bridge.
Swamp area – In all swamp area, before crossing will determine water depth if it safe to work, Checking water table for concrete applicati on.
Bush area – In all bush area before trenching will do bush clearance by using hand tools (slasher, Bush knife), e.t.c
Paving and Tiles crossing – in those area will involve remove of paving blocks and reinstall back and compaction after trenching.
Excavation in Hard rocks-using hand tools -hammer, axe and isolation trenching.
Man holes -17 pc’s (W=0.6m,L=0.8m,D=1.5m) with 10cm thick wall and Hand holes -75pc’s (W=0.6m,L=0.8m,D=1m) with 10cm thick wall– NST will use pre casted Manholes
and handholes
Lay the duct (HDPE duct) - 47km - Laying duct will be done by the casuals who excavated the trenches where the drum middle hole will be inserted to the jerk to help it
rotate while laying the duct. Adequate number of Casual should participate during inserting the drum on jerk and laying duct on trench
Splicing and fiber cables Blowing through HDPE duct - Only competent with CFOT certified fiber splicer will perform splicing of fiber cables and blowing through HDPE dust.
EHS for Street work awareness should be done to all technicians conducting these activities. Sharp and rough edge of fiber cable may cause injury in-order to avoid it proper
PPE will be on place.

Thrust boring / Directional Drilling -993m
Directional drilling machine only to be operated by a competent person.
Pre – survey to be done to ensure that there is no incident from existing infrastructure or existing cables.
Pre – survey to be done only be competent personnel (Site Supervisor) who will scan for existing infrastructure prior
Directional drilling needs to be transported in a safe and healthy manner as per System manual
