1. To develop students’ listening comprehension skills.

2. To understand vocabulary related to daily routines.
3. To improve note-taking and summarizing skills.

3-Phase Framework:

Pre-Listening Stage (5-7 minutes)

• Objective: Activate students’ background knowledge, set context,

and introduce key vocabulary.

1. Lead-in Discussion
• Ask students, “What does a typical school day look like for you?
What activities do you do daily?”
• Have students discuss in pairs or small groups for 1-2 minutes and
then share a few responses with the class.
2. Vocabulary Preview
• Write key vocabulary on the board (e.g., “get up,” “have
breakfast,” “go to school,” “homework,” “dinner”).
• Go through each word with a quick definition or an example
sentence to ensure understanding.
3. Prediction Activity
• Tell students they will listen to a teenager describing their daily
routine.
• Ask them to predict some of the activities they might hear. Write
their predictions on the board.

While-Listening Stage (10-12 minutes)

• Objective: Develop students’ listening for gist and specific

information.

1. First Listening (Listening for Gist)

• Play the audio once.
• Ask students to confirm if their predictions were correct. Discuss
briefly to see what they got right or missed.
2. Second Listening (Listening for Specific Information)
• Provide students with a worksheet with questions (e.g., “What time
does the speaker wake up?”, “What does the speaker do after school?”).
• Play the audio again, and have students answer the questions
individually.
3. Pair Check
• Have students compare answers in pairs and discuss any
differences.

Post-Listening Stage (10 minutes)

• Objective: Practice speaking and integrate what students have
learned from the listening activity.

1. Discussion Questions
• In pairs or small groups, students discuss questions like: “How is
the speaker’s routine similar to or different from yours? What activities would
you add or remove?”
2. Follow-Up Activity
• Ask students to write a short paragraph describing their daily
routines using the vocabulary from the Pre-Listening stage.
• Encourage them to share their routines with a partner.

Assessment:

• Evaluate students’ understanding based on their answers to specific

questions in the While-Listening Stage.
• Review written paragraphs for vocabulary use and coherence in
describing daily routines.
