 Chapter 1 Introduction

1.1 Background

Bachelor in Information Management (BIM) is a four-year bachelor's degree course offered by TU

which is a blend of Information Technology (IT) and Management and provides students with
knowledge of IT and management concepts required in an organization. BIM is a semester system
course that is divided into eight semesters and has 126 credit hours. The BIM Course aims to
produce quality IT professionals with managerial skills. (edusanjal, 2022)

An internship program is a program in which a student or learner gets professional workexperience

under supervision. The internship is a wonderful opportunity for students to implement their
knowledge into real-world projects and experiences and also an opportunity to learn about how an
organization operates, how work is performed in teams and organizations, and get real-world
professional experience.

This report has been prepared based on my internship experience of 3 months in Alphainit
Technology. During the internship period I got real-world professional experience in frontend
development, learned organizational culture, and applied learned knowledge gained in my college.

1.2 Objectives
1.2.1 Objectives of the Internship
The objective of the internship program is to familiarize students with real-world
professional environments. Students also get exposed to professional work environments
and learn the work culture. The main objectives of internship programs are as follows:
● To implement the theoretical knowledge acquired in real-world projects
● To get familiarized with the professional working environment
● To develop as a person and build professional skills

1.2.2 Objectives of the System

The objectives of the system developed can be listed as follows:
● To give brief information about the company to visitors
● To provide information about company products and services
● To help potential clients connect with the company

1.3 Methodology
1.3.1 Organizational Selection
The selection of an appropriate organization is an essential part of an internship to be successful.
Selecting an appropriate organization for an internship is important because the learning and
exposure to the real world depend on the organization selected. I am interested in frontend
development and as an Intern I wanted to be in an organization where my interest was matched.

While selecting the company for my internship, first I started searching for IT Companies around
my locality. During the search process, I found Alphainit Technology and they were looking for a
frontend intern, so I dropped my CV had an interview, and got selected for the internship.

1.3.2 Placement
In Alphainit Technology, the intern got placed as a Frontend Developer Intern where I got to
learn frontend development and also got to know organizational work culture and
organizational process. In three months, the intern was supervised by Mr. Nikesh Prajapati.

1.3.3 Duration
The duration of my internship is listed below
Starting Date: April 16, 2024
Ending Date: July 16, 2023,
Total Duration: 3 Months
Days of Work: Sunday to Friday (6 days)
Office Hours: 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (6 Hours)
Position: Frontend Developer Intern
Supervisor: Mr. Nikesh Prajapati

During the internship period, the intern was assigned various tasks in front-end development from
January 31st to April 30th and was involved in multiple front-end projects. During the internship,
the intern was supervised by Er. Ramesh Kharbuja and engaged in the company website and
portfolio website project.

1.3.4 Activities
During the internship period, the intern was assigned various tasks that included collecting
requirements, designing websites, transforming design to code, testing existing software, and
analysis of the current frontend system. The list of activities done by the intern is as follows:
● Creating Wireframe Design for frontend projects using Figma
● Creating UI Design for Company frontend projects.
● Transforming design to code
● Testing frontend projects.

The tools and technologies used for performing these activities are as follows:
● Figma For Wireframing and UI Design
● Visual Studio Code for Coding
● Frontend - HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap

 Chapter 2 Introduction of Industry

2.1 Introduction to Information Technology (IT) Industry

The Information Technology (IT) industry is a broad and dynamic sector that revolves around the
use of computers, software, hardware, networks, and electronic systems to create, process, store,
transmit, and manage information. It encompasses a wide range of activities, from developing
software applications to managing complex computer networks, providing IT support, and
designing advanced technologies that shape the digital landscape we interact with daily. In recent
years, the IT industry has experienced rapid globalization, with technology companies operating
on a global scale and collaborating across borders to develop innovative solutions. This industry's
growth has been further accelerated by the increasing demand for digital transformation in
businesses, the expansion of e-commerce, and the proliferation of mobile devices. The Information
Technology (IT) industry plays a crucial role in today's world by providing digital services,
transforming traditional technologies, and making our lives easier through technological
innovations (ukessays, 2023).

2.2 History of IT in Nepal

The revolution of the IT Industry has a long history and has seen vital changes from the
transformation from Mainframe Computers to Personal Computers and communication from
telephone to email. Nepal's technological evolution has been marked by key milestones. In 1961
AD (2018 BS), the "Facet" electronic calculator facilitated census calculations, followed by the
establishment of a Telephone Service Exchange by NTC in 1960 in the Kathmandu Valley. The
use of the "IBM 1401" computer for census calculations in 1971 AD (2028 BS) represented a leap
forward. Mercantile Communications introduced Internet services in 1995, opening new
communication avenues. The 2000s brought software company growth, but also infrastructure
challenges and a skilled manpower shortage, prompting Nepal's National IT Policy in 2008. The
2010s saw outsourcing rise, startup ecosystems develop, and tech support expand. In 2015, the IT
sector contributed to disaster relief after an earthquake. The 2020s saw remote work adoption due
to COVID-19, creating fresh prospects for IT professionals. Nepal's journey underscores its tech-
driven progress, overcoming obstacles to foster innovation and connectivity. (Aryal, 2022)

2.3 Scope of IT
IT Industry is an industry that consists of multiple sub-industries like hardware, software, artificial
intelligence, cyber security, networking, etc. IT industry has various roles ranging from developing
hardware and software to technical support. As the use of digital devices is growing and IT is being
integrated into many industries, the IT industry is growing at a fast pace and the scope of the sector
is also evolving. The multiple career options available in the IT industry are listed below (IT Scope
in Nepal, 2022)
● Software Developer
● Ethical Hacker
● Artificial Intelligence Engineer
● Project Manager
● Network Manager
● UI/UX Designer

2.4 Opportunities in the Nepali IT Industry

The Nepali IT Industry has immense opportunities which are listed below.

1. Outsourcing
Nepal has enormous potential for becoming an outsourcing hub due to its skilled
workforce and cost-effective workforce. IT Industry majorly works by outsourcing
work and many companies look for outsourcing destinations for their work so
Nepal's IT Sector can capitalize on the Outsourcing demand.

2. Young and Educated Workforce

Nepal has a significant population of young and educated individuals. With proper
training and skills development, this workforce can be utilized and can contribute
to IT Industry’s growth.

3. Freelancing and Remote Work

With the global trend towards remote work and freelancing, Nepalese IT
professionals have the opportunity to work for international clients without
geographical limitations.

4. Digital Services
The adoption of digital services is increasing in Nepal. There is a growing demand
for web and mobile applications, digital marketing, e-commerce platforms, and
more.

 2.5 Challenges of the IT Industry in Nepal
Nepal's IT Industry also has multiple challenges that hinder the growth of the IT Industry.
The challenges of the IT Industry in Nepal are listed below.

1. Infrastructure
Inadequate physical and digital infrastructure, including reliable electricity and high-speed
internet connectivity, can hinder the growth of the IT industry.

2. Regulations and Policies

The regulatory environment in Nepal might not be entirely conducive to the growth of the
IT industry. Unclear or outdated regulations can pose challenges for startups and
technology companies.

3. Access to Funding
Despite the growing interest in startups, accessing funding, especially venture capital, can
be challenging in Nepal. Limited investment opportunities can impede the expansion of
promising startups.

4. Skills Gap
While there is a young and educated workforce, there might be a gap between the skills
possessed and the skills demanded by the industry. Continuous skill development and
relevant education are essential to bridge this gap.

5. Brain Drain
Skilled professionals often seek better opportunities abroad due to higher salaries and more
developed tech ecosystems. This brain drain can limit the industry's growth potential.

3.1 Introduction to Alphainit Technology

Alphainit Technology is a software development company located in Jagati, Bhaktapur established
in 2019 with a focus on solving the needs of businesses and consumers. Alphainit Technology
specializes in building quality business solutions at a practical cost. Alphainit Technology’s
primary motto is committed to deliver results and are closely with you to understand your goals
and develop strategies that drive tangible outcome.

3.2 Mission of Alphainit Technology

Mission:
To empower businesses with innovative and high-quality IT services and business solutions
that drive growth and success.
Alphainit Technology. is dedicated to providing top-notch IT services and business solutions that
are both reliable and affordable. Our mission emphasizes our commitment to empowering

achieve their growth objectives effectively.

3.5 Organizational Structure of Mining Infosys
Organizational structure is a system that is used to define a hierarchy within an organization.
Organizational structure helps to delegate the level of authority and responsibility. It helps to run
the organization smoothly. Alphainit Technology has a functional organizational structure
consisting of a CEO, Technical Director, Finance Director, etc. who handle various roles of the

organization.

3.6 Services Offered
The services offered by Alphainit Technology are as follows:

1. Web Development
Alphainit Technology offers web development services to businesses and
individuals looking to establish or enhance their online presence. Alphainit
Technology has a skilledweb development team that collaborates with clients to
understand requirements and transform requirements into user-friendly and visually
appealing websites. Alphainit Technology uses technologies like HTML, CSS,
JavaScript, and frameworks like React, Angular, and Vue to build interactive
websites.

2. Mobile Application Development

Alphainit Technology offers quality mobile application development services for
clientsin both IOS and Android Platforms. Alphainit Technology app
development uses cutting-edge technology tools like Kotlin, Java, Flutter, and
Swift to develop mobile apps using best industry practices to bring your app
ideas to life.

3. E-Commerce System
Alphainit Technology also offers the development of an e-commerce system.
Alphainit Technology develops a secure e-commerce system that offers seamless
transactions and delightful shopping experiences. Alphainit Technology e-
commerce provides a customizable and flexible e-commerce system that has user-
friendly interfaces, robust payment gateways, and an inventory management
system.

4. Hosting and Domain Name Services

Alphainit Technology offers hosting and domain name services. Alphainit
Technology offers various qualities of hosting depending on the client like VPS
Hosting, Web Hosting, Cloud Hosting, etc. Alphainit Technology also provides
various domain name registrations like .com, .org, and .info at an affordable price.

 Chapter 4 Analysis of Activities Done/ Problems Solved
4.1 Analysis of Activities Done
During the internship period, as a frontend intern, the intern was assigned to handle multiple
frontend projects and the designing of various projects but the intern was mainly assigned to the
Alphainit Technology website frontend system. Overall, through the activities performed during
the internship period, the intern got to learn about project management procedures, professional
work procedures, problem breakdowns, collaboration, teamwork, etc.

4.2 Brief Description of Activities Done

During the internship period, the intern got the opportunity to work on several real-world projects.
The intern was assigned to design layouts for the website of Alphainit Technology and other front-
end systems and convert them into code using front-end technologies. Similarly, the intern was
also assigned to improve existing frontend systems and test the developed frontend systems. A
brief description of activities done is described below.

4.3 Design
Designing tasks included creating wireframes for UI Design and Designing UI from Wireframes
for the Alphainit Technology website and other frontend projects of products of Mining Infosys.

4.3. 1 Wireframe
A wireframe is a simplified representation or blueprint of a digital product layout and structure.
Wireframe serves as a visual blueprint that outlines the basic components, elements, and their
placement on a screen without focusing on detailed design elements like colors, images, or
typography. During the internship period, the intern created wireframes for the company website,
portfolio site, and other front-end projects. The wireframe for the Mining Infosys website was
taken as a basis for designing the user interface for the Mining Infosys Website.

4.3.2 UI Design
UI Design is the process of designing the user interface (the interface that we see) for a product
concerning the requirements and wireframe. During the UI Design activity, the intern converted
the wireframe of Alphainit Technology to the UI design for the Alphainit Technology website. Some
changes were made to the wireframe in the design but most of the wireframe was taken as a
reference for designing UI for the Alphainit Technology Website.

4.4 Implementation

Implementation is the stage of a project in which the design of the project is turned into a working
system by coding using tools and technologies. The implementation of the Alphainit Technology
website and other frontend systems was done using the tools and technology listed below.

4.4.1 Tools and Technologies Used

The following tools and technologies were used for the implementation process.
1. Figma
Figma was used to design Wireframe and User Interfaces.
2. Visual Studio Code (VS Code)
Vs Code was used as a code editor for writing code during the internship
3. HTML
HTML was used to create a structure for the website.
4. CSS and Bootstrap
CSS was used for styling and Bootstrap was used as a Library for components.
5. JavaScript
JavaScript was used as a Scripting language to add interactivity and functionalities.

 Chapter 5 Conclusion / Lessons Learnt

5.1 Conclusion
It was a wonderful experience to work as a front-end developer intern at Alphainit Technology.
This internship period of 3 months gave me the outlook of professional work experience, and how
an organization operates. It helped me to transform from a student to a working professional.
Overall, I got to know how the knowledge gained during college is implemented in real life, and
what is an industry requirement for a candidate. It also helped me realize that practical real-world
implementation is more important than having only knowledge.

5.2 Lesson Learnt

During my internship period at Alphainit Technology, Intern got the opportunity to be involved in
a professional working experience which helped the intern gain many valuable learnings and
experiences. Some of the important lessons which the intern learned during the internship period
are as follows

● How an organization functions and operates

● Importance of proper communication between team members
● How a problem is approached and solved
● Importance of Teamwork
● How to work in a professional environment.
● Always be open-minded and learn from your mistakes.
● Be patient and tackle the problem and situations patiently.
● Effectively interacting with team members without hesitation is a must for success.
