3. Proposed Design / Methodology
Alohra Genkwiz is structured as a front-end-only application using HTML, CSS,
JavaScript, and React. This choice enables a dynamic, responsive user experience
while keeping development streamlined. React allows the platform to manage
components efficiently, especially for interactive features like quizzes and event
filtering.
1. Event Filtering
React and JavaScript handle event filtering based on criteria such as date and
type. A dropdown menu or search bar enables users to filter events, with
results rendered dynamically in real time. The filtered list is rendered using a
map function that iterates through the filtered array.
2. State Management
React’s state management enables efficient data handling. For instance, states
track quiz progress, event filters, and user selections. Components use hooks
(useState and useEffect) to manage component-level data and trigger re-
renders as needed.
3. LocalStorage for User Data
Although no back-end exists, the app uses LocalStorage to save quiz scores
and filter preferences. This data is retrieved on each page load, allowing users
to resume where they left off.
4. Dynamic Navigation with React Router
React Router is used to manage single-page navigation, enabling users to
switch between pages without a full-page reload. For example, when users
click from the home page to the quiz section, React Router renders the
QuizComponent without refreshing the page.
3.5 Data Handling (Client-Side)
With the absence of back-end storage, the platform utilizes client-side data
management:
Static Data Files: JSON files store quiz questions, event listings, and resource
information. JavaScript fetches this data and renders it dynamically in
components.
LocalStorage: User-specific data, such as quiz scores and filter preferences,
are saved in LocalStorage. This allows minimal data persistence across
sessions.
JavaScript Functions for Dynamic Content: Functions retrieve and manipulate
static data, providing real-time updates without reloading. For example, a
function fetches event details from a local JSON file and filters results based
on search criteria.
3.6 File Structure
The file structure is organized to support React components, styles, and modular code:
/src Directory: Contains the main source code for the application, including
components, styles, and assets.
o Components: Stores individual React components for various sections,
such as [Link], [Link], and [Link]. Components
are organized into folders for modularity.
o Assets: Stores images, JSON data files, and any static assets used by
components.
o CSS: Contains global styles in [Link] and component-specific styles
through CSS modules (e.g., [Link]).
[Link]: The root component of the application, setting up the main layout,
navigation, and routing.
[Link]: The main entry point, rendering the App component into the DOM.
3.7 Development Methodology
Alohra Genkwiz was developed using agile practices, with key phases focused on
rapid iteration and user feedback:
1. Component-Based Design: Each section of the site was built as a reusable
component, starting with basic HTML structures, followed by styling and
interactivity with React and JavaScript.
2. Iterative Testing: Each feature was tested independently to ensure that
navigation, filtering, and interactive elements worked seamlessly. Feedback
cycles refined the user interface and experience.
3. Performance Optimization: Code splitting and lazy loading were applied to
certain components to enhance performance, especially for large lists in the
events section.
3.8 Limitations and Future Enhancements
While the current setup achieves core functionalities, a fully front-end solution has
limitations in data storage, user authentication, and security. Future enhancements
could include:
1. Back-End Integration: Adding a back-end system (e.g., Firebase, [Link]) to
support secure logins, persistent user data, and real-time updates.
2. API Integration: Incorporating APIs for real-time event listings or donation
tracking would enhance the platform’s dynamic capabilities.
3. Enhanced State Management: Implementing Redux or Context API for more
complex state management across components.
