Technology has transformed almost every aspect of human interaction. In particular, the kinds of
relationships we now form have been influenced heavily by technological change, but I believe
that this trend has had a positive impact on society.
Technology has had an impact on human relationships in a number of ways. Firstly, people are
no longer restricted to forming friendships with people in their immediate vicinity. Thanks to
social media tools, we are now able to connect with people on the other side of the world who
have similar interests. This is particularly important for members of minority groups who in the
past may have felt isolated and alone.
Moreover, email, instant message and video calls have made it much easier to maintain
friendships over a long period of time. In the past, moving to a new town often meant a person
lost all of their connections as people had to rely on writing letters or telephone calls to stay in
touch, which were both time-consuming and involved long delays. Today, however, social media
sites like Facebook mean that despite distance, we can heave an intimate knowledge of our
friends’ lives day to day.
Therefore, on the whole, I believe that technology has only helped the way that people connect.
Although I concede that there are a few people who use technology to hide from personal
interaction, for example texting or messaging rather than having a real conversation, the
majority of people simply use technology as a tool to create and maintain connections.
Moreover, technology has allowed the development of online communities, which have become
increasingly important as the pace of our lives increase and people have less opportunities to
interact in the real world.
In conclusion, not only has technology allowed us to make long-lasting friendships, but it has also
allowed us to form web-based friendships based on interests not location. As a result, people are
more likely to feel as if they are part of a community, which I believe is definitely a positive
development.

Firstly, governments need to prioritize research areas that are important in the lives of the
general public, and these should be paid by the governments because important policy decisions
are made considering the findings. Often, commercial organizations could use their research
findings to make more income even if it means they manipulate the results. For example,
Theranos, a start-up based in America, profited off American people with only empty promises
and doctored research findings. These types of cases show that if research fields whose data
from research is used to make policy decisions, governments should spare no funds.
Despite this, commercial organizations’ studies could potentially benefit a society at large in a
number of ways, and governments should not stop them from researching.
