ABSTRACT

The clear overview and goal of research was to study about the “ROLE OF
GARDEN’S IN CARBON NEUTRAL HIGH-RISE BUILDING” Abstract: The
Role of Gardens in Achieving Carbon Neutrality in High-Rise Buildings

The rapid urbanization of cities has led to a surge in high-rise construction, often
contributing significantly to greenhouse gas emissions. However, incorporating
green spaces such as gardens into high-rise buildings can transform these
structures into key contributors to urban carbon neutrality. This paper explores
the multifaceted role of gardens in achieving carbon neutrality in high-rise
buildings, focusing on their capacity to sequester carbon, regulate building
temperatures, and promote energy efficiency.

Vertical gardens, rooftop greenery, and terrace landscapes not only absorb CO₂
but also mitigate the urban heat island effect, reducing the reliance on energy-
intensive cooling systems. Additionally, gardens enhance air quality, manage
stormwater, and support biodiversity, fostering sustainable urban ecosystems. By
integrating advanced sustainable practices such as green walls, hydroponics, and
solar-powered irrigation, gardens can be optimized for minimal resource
consumption while maximizing ecological benefits.

This study underscores the potential of garden-integrated high-rise buildings to

act as carbon sinks, aligning with global climate goals. It advocates for policy
frameworks, design innovations, and interdisciplinary collaboration to
mainstream green spaces as a critical component of sustainable urban
architecture.
