Portfolio Assignment FAQs
What’s the point of this assignment?
At university and in your future career you will need to use a range of skills and demonstrate self-
awareness and personal responsibility. This assignment makes you consciously think about skills and
attitudes that will help you in the future.
I don’t know where to start, where can I get help?
There are many sources of help available:
The “Module Assessment” section of the module Moodle page contains all the information
and instructions you need to structure and complete your assignment.
The weekly essential learning and assessment material and independent learning resources
on the module Moodle page are designed to support your completion of this assignment.

What’s included in the word limit?
Only the main written reflections (for Part A, B, and C) are included. Everything in your assessment
activity files is excluded.
Does it matter if I exceed the word limit?
Yes. If your written reflections obviously and significantly exceed the overall word limit your work
may be subject to a penalty.
The assignment brief shows word limits for each section of the assignment. Do I have to comply
with these?
No. The word limits shown against each Part of the assignment are for guidance only. They are
provided to give you an idea of where you should focus your efforts (i.e. to show you that I want you
to focus more attention on Parts A and B and less on Part C).
Whilst you are not required to comply with the section word limit guides, it’s advisable not to ignore
them completely. For example, if you only dedicate 200 words to Goal 1 in Part A it’s very unlikely
that you will be able to write in sufficient depth to meet the requirements of the marking criteria.
However, using 750 words in total for Part A and 950 words in total for Part B, for example, is fine.
If assignments are supposed to be anonymously marked, won’t the marker be able to identify me
through the evidence I submit?
Anonymous marking is generally important to the university, but the nature of this assignment
means that you will be identifiable from some of the assessment activity files you submit.
However, we have a rigorous marking and moderation process that ensures all assignments are
assessed fairly and objectively.
How and when will I get feedback on my assignment?
The Admin Team will tell you when you can expect to receive your assignment feedback and grade.
Once your marked assignment is released, you can review your feedback by accessing your

assignment in Turnitin. Feedback for this assignment is primarily given through the comments in the
marking criteria, which you can access in Turnitin. The marking criteria document is also available on
Moodle in advance. You should review your feedback carefully to make sure you fully understand
what you did well, where you can make improvements, and your overall grade.
If you don’t understand why you’ve been awarded the grade you’ve received it’s important that you
ask me ([Link]@[Link]) for more detailed feedback. The best way to do this is to make an
appointment to talk to me.
How should I use my assignment feedback?
The feedback you receive for your portfolio is likely to be valuable feed-forward for future reflective
assignments (e.g. learning logs, personal reflections on learning, etc.) on other modules for your
degree course.
