Description of the Project/ Technology
The "Development of Motorized and Hydraulic-Enhanced Manoeuvrable
Wheelbarrow" is a product meant to result in a contemporary, motorized propulsion,
and hydraulic-assisted mechanisms wheelbarrow that would bring in efficiency while
also avoiding any strain on the person. The wheelbarrow comes with a load bed
80–100 cm long, 50–60 cm wide, 20–30 cm deep made out of heavy-duty materials
like high-strength steel or aluminium alloy, having the capacity of 200 kg at maximum.
It is powered by a 24V or 36V battery and 250W-500W brushless DC motor, with
bidirectional mobility and variable speed control. A hydraulic system, with pressures
at 5-10 MPa, allows for lifting and unloading with minimal efforts, and rugged
pneumatic or solid rubber tires of 30-40 cm diameter and 8-12 cm width ensure
24
smooth running on varied terrains. It is designed with ergonomic, adjustable handles;
hence it maximizes productivity and safety, making it best suited for the construction,
agriculture, and labour-intensive industries.
Design and Fabrication Procedures
The researchers initiated the development of the prototype by focusing on the
design and ensuring the accuracy and criteria necessary for categorizing it as a
motorized and hydraulic-enhanced maneuverable wheelbarrow. The design aims to
improve efficiency in transporting heavy loads, enhance maneuverability in various
terrains, and reduce the physical effort required by the user. The careful selection of
materials ensures the durability and functionality of the prototype, meeting the
demands of construction, agriculture, and landscaping tasks.

The operation begins by loading the desired materials, such as soil or gravel,
into the wheelbarrow. Start the wheelbarrow and engage the motorized controls to
power the wheelbarrow’s movement. Move the wheelbarrow by just pushing and
control to suit the terrain, ensuring optimal performance for the task at hand. Use the

Maintenance Procedure
1. Clean the bed parts of the wheelbarrow, remove the dirt, including dirt buildup
and debris, and make sure that it has no accumulated material.
2. Monitor the battery regularly and sign of wear out.
3. Inspect the motorized controls and hydraulic system for any signs of damage
or leaks, and replace any worn parts as needed.
4. Use lubricants at the wheel’s axles and joints.
5. Monitor the hydraulic pressure and ensure the system is functioning correctly,
adjusting or replacing the hydraulic components as necessary.
Safety Control Measures
The following safety measures are designed to protect the product and
ensure the user’s safety during use. Adopting these measures helps maintain
product quality and reduce the risk of accidents.
1. Inspect the battery connections for security and absence of corrosion, and
make sure that it does not have any problem.
2. Check the hydraulic system for leaks and ensure that the pressure relief valve
is working well.
3. Ensure that the moving parts are working well such as wheels and hydraulic
components
4. Replace any worn or damaged components, including the motorized controls,
wheels, and hydraulic parts, immediately.
5. Always ensure the wheelbarrow is stable and safe before using to prevent
toppling over.

criteria: (1) functionality in terms of ase of operation, provision of comfort,
convenience, and user friendly, (2) durability in terms of quality of materials, quality of
workmanship, and quality of design (3) safety in terms of stability and load balance
and control mechanisms.
Each criterion will be assessed using three (3) indicators rated on a scale of 1
to 5, where 1 is the lowest and 5 is the highest. The population evaluating the
prototype consists of professionals, and students from the Industrial Technology
Department, spanning 1st to 4th year.
A validated evaluation sheet will be provided to each evaluator. Each criterion
will be rated on a scale of 1 to 5, where 1 indicates "needs improvement," 2 is
"unsatisfactory," 3 is "satisfactory," 4 is "very satisfactory," and 5 is "outstanding".
