B. Movie/Book Reflection
A reflection on the movie “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse”
A child, a teenager, and an adult. These are the target audiences of this movie. Almost
everyone can watch this movie, almost everyone can learn from it. Have you watched it? It’s likely
that you have. The movie I am talking about is “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” a movie
released in 2018. I am not the type to watch superhero and fantasy movies, as I have never really
found them interesting and I often find myself sleeping whilst watching one. However, this movie
was an amazing experience.
The cinematography and visuals hooked me. But it was not the only thing that kept me hooked.
The characters of the story consist of Miles Morales, a teenager who has just taken up the mantle
of “Spider Man” and is currently learning how to be as great as his predecessor, Peter Parker. This
story from the very beginning gave us a lesson of how anyone can wear the mask and become spi-
derman, even teenagers with no relation with Peter Parker. It gave us a lesson that we can also ap-
ply in our lives. The mask and the title of “spider man” is a metaphor for its theme and the moral
of the story.
Looking back to this story and reflecting on everything going around in the world, this story gave a
valuable lesson that is very applicable for our time. “Anyone can wear the mask” means that every-
one is equal. “Anyone can become spiderman” means that anyone can bring good. The theme and
moral of this story are applicable to our society today, with its discrimination, anyone can be the
“spiderman” or role model to us. A member of the LGBTQ community can become spiderman, I
can be spiderman, in fact, even you can be spiderman. The general theme and moral of this story
inspired me, and it’s an excellent meaning that we can apply, especially now that we are in a soci-
ety where everyone chooses to express themselves differently.
This movie aged like fine wine, some may say. As the year progresses, this movie only gets better
and better. Just like this movie, I hope many more that are coming can give us lessons about life
just like what “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” has given.
