Classification-Reflection
This Rhetoric And Composition I class has been a great way to improve my writing skills
and understand what my flaws in writing have been. It has also allowed me to make great
relationships with my peers and my professor. Because of this, I would like to thank Dr. Daniel
because she has provided each student with individual feedback about their writing. Not only this
but also giving us advice in general about college and the different resources we have availed
through the school.
Assignments
The assignments for this class were the Personal Narrative Essay, Emails, and the This I
Believe Essay. The Personal Narrative Essay allowed me to see the different aspects of my life
that have shaped me into the person I am today. It was a great way to help express the challenges
that I have gone through and the way that I have gone about obstacles to get to the place I am
today. It personally helped me reflect on my experiences and keep me motivated. The Email
assignment helped me improve my tone and language based on my audience, from being formal
and talking to someone with higher authority compared to being informal and someone who may
see me as higher or more experienced. Lastly, the This I Believe essay allowed us to express our
opinions on a topic that we feel passionate about as well as allow us to practice put research skills.
It encouraged students to research the topic they chose to give a more convincing and logical
argument rather than just being opinion-based. The This I Believe assignment was my favorite one
because it not only allowed us to practice our research skills but it was simply a great way to
express your thoughts about something that you feel passionate about, and that for me is the
women’s right to abortion. Being able to freely express my opinions about this topic allowed me
to increase my knowledge on the topic with the research done but also being able to inform other
people about this topic and spread awareness.
Discussions
The discussions from this class allowed us to review different articles that are related to
the way society sent about work expectations for women and how that can be related to today’s
society, to the way social media is affecting our society, and how we can take advantage of it, and
lastly to simply reflect on our assignments. Looking specifically at the discussion on the “My
Mother Never Worked” article, it allows us to see how the work of women is another taken into
consideration even if the expectations are to work at home and take care of the children, at the end
of the day they will not be compensated for their work because they were not working for pay or
under someone. It allows us to compare it to today’s society as the expectation for women is very
different from that of men.
My most interesting discussion was the “Don’t Delete Facebook” article that we read and
discussed. I enjoyed reading about the different ways that social media is affecting society and the
ways that people are using them to their advantage both in a good and bad way. I specifically
enjoyed getting to learn about my peers’ opinions about Facebook and what they believed was the
best way to go about the hate speeches and propaganda that are spread because of this form of
social media.

General Experience
I enjoyed the class being in person and being able to see peers and the professor face to
face. Especially getting to discuss things in person with peers and express our opinions on topics.
Because it was an in-person class it was easier to interact with students and get to be more involved.

Getting to read different articles allowed us to get the experience of reading and understanding
different styles of writing. Wring from different perspectives also us improve our writing skills
and get a greater range of writing skills.
Strengths And Limitations
This class allowed me to improve my writing skills because of the assignments that we had
to do as it allowed me to write from a different point of view, not simply one. It also helped me
improve my discussion skills in being able to add to a conversation rather than simply agreeing or
disagreeing. A few places I did struggle in however were insuring that my work was turned in on
time as the deadlines were at 11 pm instead of the typical midnight deadlines. However, this is
something that I can fix on my part as there I can better manage my time and get work done one
time instead of procrastinating.
Confident And Practice
This class has increased my confidence in my writing as it has allowed me to see the things
that I need to improve because of the feedback that the professor and peers provided. With all the
feedback I was able to improve my writing and discussion skills and because of this, I am now
able to utilize them in other classes with essays and papers that I have to write. Not only in other
classes but also in my life in general as the discussion skills can help me when making a point
about someone or simply when in a conversation with people.
Conclusion
Over all in this class I would expect to get an A because I did all the assignments and got
as much feedback as possible whenever I could get it. However, I did turn in a few late assignments
and there were times that I procrastinated and was not able to get the feedback that I would have
been able to get if I had better managed my time.
