warm up ?: Why did you choose this lesson ?

HOW TO START ? - If you are unsure who to go first:

1) Is it OK if I go ahead ?
2) May I go first ?
3) I know what I want to say, should I speak first ?
4) Would you like to go first ?
5) After you ;- )
6) Ladies first ;- )

1. Good Conversation Tips

1. ask “beginning/ topic introducing” questions

2. ask “follow up” questions
3. ask “does anyone have any questions ?” (about your story)
4. ask other’s about their opinions, reasons, hopes, dreams,
goals, plans, experience
5. INVOLVE all members of the group, asking them questions,
asking them to explain more, “pull” them into the conversation
6. compare (find similarities) contrast (find differences) !

2. Good Conversation Style : I (teacher Craig) don't want to

ask all the questions, an interactive style makes a better
conversation experience. like a “Futbol” (soccer) game, players
passes the ball...when one player finishes dribbling, he passes
to his teammate………....similarly, in conversation, when a
person is finished with their comment or answer, they should
"pass the ball" to another group member, by using transition
phrase/questions, when you are finished (ask other students
questions or same question when you done commenting)
3. PAUSES = when a speaker PAUSES, and it seems like they
might be finished with their comments or story, THESE THINGS
below should happen :

1. the speaker should pay attention for any possible

comments or questions from the listeners
2. the listeners should pay attention to the speaker's pause,
that is the opportunity to comment or ask questions
3. the speaker can then "pass the ball" and ask another
person the same question, or move to a new topic
