“Insight Forum in the Four Areas of Accountancy Profession”
(Reflection Paper)
Last December 3, 2024, I had the privilege of attending the Insight Forum organized by
the UPHSL JPIA officers. The event brought together esteemed officers from the Laguna chapter
of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), starting with their PICPA
President, Atty. Emilita C. Basan, and the four CPA professionals from various sectors, including
public practice, commerce and industry, government, and academe, who shared their valuable
insights and experiences with the BSA and BSMA students. This gathering not only highlighted
the diverse roles that accountants play in shaping the economic landscape but also fostered
meaningful discussions on the current challenges and opportunities within each area. Engaging
with professionals from different backgrounds or sectors allowed me to appreciate the
interconnectedness of their work and the importance of collaboration in addressing such issues.
Reflecting on the insights shared during the forum, I am inspired by their commitment to
uphold the integrity and relevance of their profession because each speaker illuminated the
unique challenges and opportunities within their respective sectors, emphasizing the importance
of adaptability and continuous learning in a rapidly changing environment. Their personal stories
and career journeys served as a reminder of the diverse opportunities available within the
profession and the impact that dedicated accountants can have on society. This experience along
with their collective wisdom not only deepened my understanding of the various career paths in
accountancy but also motivated me to embrace the challenges ahead with resilience and a
commitment to lifelong learning.
