INTRODUCTION
During the preindependence era, the situation of public
health was precarious. After independence, the
Government of India reorganized healthcare delivery
system to provide three-tier health services through a
network of National Health Programs. These programs
were launched to combat health problems like
communicable diseases, environmental sanitation,
population explosion, and poor nutrition.
NATIONAL HEALTH

MISSION KISHOR UDAY 2013
IAP has already started 'Mission Kishore Uday' to address the
health needs of the adolescents in India.
Under the 'Mission Kishore Uday' IAP members should care of 0-
18 years of age group children by increasing awareness and
counseling on normal body developments, on avoiding or
minimizing the risk-taking behavior, on sexuality issues, and
continuously encouraged '2L' of positive parenting:
(Love for teenager, set (L)imits, and keep attitude and effective
communication with the children etc.
MISSION INDRADHANUSH
2014
"Mission Indradhanush" is a health mission of the government of India.
To strengthen and re-energize the programme and achieve full
immunization coverage for all children and pregnant women at a rapid
pace,
"Mission Indradhanush" was launched by Union Health Minister Jagat
Prakash (J.P.) Nadda on 25 December
2014. The Mission Indradhanush, depicting seven colors of the
rainbow, aims to cover all those children by 2020 who are either
unvaccinated, or are partially vaccinated against seven vaccine
preventable diseases which are
poliomyelitis,Diphtheria,Pertussis,Tetanus,Measles,TB,Hepatitis B
Objective :
The ultimate goal of Mission Indradhanush is to ensure immunization of
under 2 years age children and all pregnant women with available vaccine
by 2020.
The long-term goal of Mission Indradhanush is to strengthen the health
system through collaboration of central and state government and
development partners.
Earlier, the increase in full immunization coverage was 1% in 2014 which
has increased to 6.7% in 2015 through the first two phases of Mission
Indradhanush. Four phases of Mission Indradhanush have been
conducted till August 2017 and more than 2.53 crore children and 68 lakh
pregnant women have been vaccinated.
INTEGRATED CHILD
DEVELOPMENT SERVICES (ICDS)
The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare" launched this scheme in October 1975 in India.)

Objectives
To improve the health of all pregnant and lactating mothers and all children 0-6 years of
age.
To maintain nutritional status and optimal growth and development of all children at 0-6
years of age.
Promote optimal health and provision of nutritional and hygiene education to all the
pregnant and lactating mothers and give non-formal education to preschool children (age
between 3-6 years).
Supplementary feeding / complementary feeding for all children.
Growth monitoring and health promotion

MID-DAY MEAL PROGRAM
Mid-day Meal Program was launched in India in 1961. The Mid-
day Meal program is also known as School lunch program.
Objectives:
To attract the more children for admission to school and retain
them.
To improve school attendance as well as educational
performance of students
To increase literacy rate of children.
SPECIAL NUTRITION PROGRAM

The Special Nutritional Program was started in 1970 by the government of India
Under this nutritional program children below 6 years of age, and all
pregnant and lactate mothers are benefited.

Supplementary food provides about 300 kcal and 10-12 gm protein/day to each
child
Mother also receives 500 kcal and 25 gm protein per day for 300 day in a year.
This program aims are to improve the nutritional status of children under 6 years,
all pregnant and lactate mothers.
VITAMIN A PROPHYLAXIS
Vitamin-A Prophylaxis program was started in 1970 in India, by ministry of health and

family welfare (MHFW against nutritional blindness due to vitamin- A deficiency.
Obiectives:
Preventing nutritional blindness due to Keratomalacia and bitot spots.
In 2006; eligible children aged between 9 months to 5 years received, vitamin-A
prophylaxis 2,00,000 IU(100mg Retinol palmitate) given orally.
Supplementation of vitamin-A to Indian children is implemented through PHC, and sub
centers. The health workers or paramedics at the village level sub- health centers are
responsible for administering of Vitamin-A.
NATIONAL NUTRITIONAL ANEMIA
PROPHYLAXIS PROGRAM
"National Nutritional Anemia Prophylaxis Program" was launched by Ministry of
Health and Family Welfare in 1970.
Objectives:
To decrease the prevalence of nutritional anemia in children especially under 6 years
and in pregnant and nursing mother.
To assess the Hb level in pregnant or nursing women and children.
To increase the Hb level more than 10 gm% in children.
Beneficiaries:
• The scheme is beneficiaries for the children in 1-12 years of age, and all pregnant
and nursing mother and female acceptor of terminal methods of family planning and
IUDS.
NATIONAL IODINE DEFICIENCY
DISORDERS CONTROL PROGRAM
Objective:
Early diagnosis and treatment of goiter and iodine
deficiency disorders.
To ensure 100% consumption of adequately iodated
salt (15 ppm) at house hold level.
Laboratory monitoring of iodated salt and urinary
iodine excretion.
Health education and publicity.
BALWADI NUTRITIONAL
The Balwadi nutritional program (BNP) was launched in 1970-71.
PROGRAM
It was started through balwadies, and day care centers, which were
run by the central government of India or five national voluntary
organizations.
Balwadi Nutritional program (BNP) is a non- expanding and non-
plan activity of the government of India.
In India approx 5000 balwadis were established at present about
2.29 lakhs children age between 3-6 years are being covered
under this scheme.

Objectives/activities:
The supplementary nutrition containing 300 calories and
10gm protein is given for 270 days in a year to each
child per day, but more priorities is given to those
children who belong to low income group for below
poverty.

NRHM
NRHM is a national health program for improving health care
delivery across rural India.
This mission has been implemented by the govt. of India.
The scheme proposes a number of new mechanisms for
health care delivery including training local residents such as
ASHA, and Janani Suraksha Yojana (motherhood protection
program), NRHM provides accessible, affordable, and
quality universal health care, both preventive and curative
