Thevenin's Theorem
The current through a load resistance ‘RL' across any two load terminals of a linear active bilateral network is
𝑽𝑻𝑯
given by Where VTH is the open circuit voltage across the load terminals termed as Thevenin Voltage &
𝑹𝑻𝑯 +𝑹𝑳
RTH is the equivalent open circuited resistance(termed as Thevenin resistance) of the network when viewed from
the load terminals. While measuring RTH all the sources of the network are to be replaced by their internal
resistances.

Steps to follow
Step 1 Disconnect the load resistor from the original network.
Find the Open circuit voltage across the open terminals
Step 2
to get the Thevenin voltage.
Find the Thevenin resistance by removing all the sources
of the network; while removing the sources replace them
Step 3
by their internal resistances (for ideal voltage source
replace it by short and for ideal current source, by open).
