STREAM™ Interactive Quick Start Guide

July 2013 - Revision 3

This guide is issued as a supplement to the STREAM Interactive Training Guide Issue 7 and is
intended to get you started on a project. For greater detail on the functions within STREAM
Interactive, please refer to the Issue 7 Training Guide.

1
QUICK START GUIDE
GETTING STARTED
Launch the STREAM Interactive Application from your laptop. The Application will be located in your
Start Menu following initial installation. You can pin to your task bar if required.
Once the application is open, enter your log-in credentials as supplied by Aerdata helpdesk.

Following log-in the Application will load all of the Gecas Asset data-base in the background. This
process should take no more than 30 seconds, but will depend on your internet connection.

Once you have logged in you will be presented with the STREAM Interactive home page.
To start a new project you should first select the VDash to enter the details of your event (TLD).

CREATING YOUR EVENT (TLD)

When in the VDash, you will first select your Asset type and enter your MSN (NOTE: this field is free-
type so no need to enter 'model' details).

2
QUICK START GUIDE
Once you have selected your Asset, you will be presented with all of the historical events for that
particular MSN, ESN or APU. You can expand those events by clicking on the white arrows or
expanding the nodes in the asset selection pane.

To add the event you are now working, click the document indexing tab at the top of the application
and select 'Create TLD'.

You will now be presented with the 'TLD' dialogue box and should enter the information required to
describe the project in work. For example, if you are working a re-delivery/delivery you should select
the TLD type 'Transition Documents' (Note: It is important to name the TLD description IAW the
project being worked in order to index documents later on in the process - WO Ref is not necessarily
needed)

3
QUICK START GUIDE
Click 'OK' once you have populated the dialogue box and you will be returned to the VDash and your
viewing page should refresh. The Event you have created should now be visible and ready for
documents to be loaded.

If you wish to make any changes to the event that you have created (i.e. change date), you can
simply right click on the event in question and select 'edit TLD'. The TLD dialogue box will be
available again for you to make any necessary changes.

Entering Documents
Now you have created your event for the Asset, you can commence adding your documents as you
have them available to you.

For any project entry, the Transition Dashboard should be used in order to populate the GECAS
Business Checklist. You switch to the TDASH by selecting the highlighted icon within the 'Document
Review' Tab of STREAM Interactive.

By selecting this Icon you will remain within the same asset but be presented with the
documentation in the Gecas Re-Delivery/Business checklist format.

Using the TDash Tags selection box, you can choose the area of work that you are fulfilling. E.g. for a
re-delivery you can select 'Transition (Redelivery)' and the application will pull through the Checklist
fields that you are required to populate.

Adding Documents

Expand the nodes (as shown on Page 3) and you can see that some fields may already have
documents indexed from previous events.
If those documents are still effective to your aircraft/asset at the current event, just leave them
tagged to the T-Dash. There is no need to enter them again.
If a document from a previous event is in the system, but now superseded/historical, then you can
remove it from the T-Dash by right clicking on the SLD and selecting 'remove from TDash. The
Document will no longer be viewable in your delivery book, but will still be available in the VDash
within the event (TLD) That it was loaded. If you feel that you need the historical document back in
the TDash for any reason, simply edit the SLD in the VDash (Right click, 'edit SLD') and select the
correct Delivery Book Location from the drop-down menu. the document will reappear in the TDash.

Single SLD Creation and upload method

For any new document to be placed in the system a SLD (Sub document) will first need to be
created.

With the delivery book item selected & highlighted you should revert to the 'Document Indexing' tab
of the application and select 'Create SLD'. Alternatively you can right click on the selected item and
choose 'create SLD'. Either of these approaches will bring up the SLD creation dialogue box.

5
QUICK START GUIDE
It is now a case of entering the details of the document you wish to put in to the system.

 Parent TLD: Hit the select button and all of the available events for that asset will be
available for you to select. choose the relevant Event/TLD and you can then pin this event.
This means that the Parent TLD will always be populated for all future documents you will be
loading during the current STREAM Session (You can un-pin the event by selecting the icon
again).

 Select SLD Type and you will be presented with a range of options. The SLD Type most fitting
your starting point will be presented in green at the top of the selection pane. In this case
we are loading a C of A so the options are 'ARC' or 'C of A'. If in doubt, consult the Gecas
Procedures guide for the correct SLD Type to be used.

 TDash Subsection has already been populated for you as this was your starting point for the
SLD creation. This field determines where in the Delivery Book (TDash) the document will be
located.

 SLD Date should be the date of the physical document - This is important, Please ensure the
correct date of the document is entered.

 SLD Ref & SLD Description should be fields that fit the document you are entering. As long as
the description is entered there is no real need to enter the reference as well (Simply enter a
-).

 SLD location is the physical location of the Hard Copy document. This field can also be
pinned if all of the documents being entered are from the same box/location.

6
QUICK START GUIDE
 Level, Processed and DRN can be left blank, as can Claim Ref and Event ID.
Loading Documents by Browsing for File
 The next step is to chose how to load your document. It is highly recommended to load you
document at this point whilst in the 'Create SLD' dialogue. Do not Chose 'Decide Later'. If you
select, Browse for file, you can then pin this choice so that STREAM will always browse for
the file as soon as you have selected 'OK' (during the current loaded session).

 Once you select 'OK', you will be taken to the 'select image file' box and will be able to
navigate through the documents on your computer to find the file you wish to add.

7
QUICK START GUIDE
 Once you have located the document to be loaded, select 'Open' and you will get the
Task Management bar signifying the process of the upload.

 When you see the text 'SLD updated successfully', the image has been indexed in the
system and should be available for you to view. Simply expand the white arrow next
to the delivery book item and select the document and it should appear now in the
Viewing Pane on the right hand side of the application (as shown below).

Loading Documents by Scanning

 Create your SLD Dialogue in exactly the same manner as above. When you come to
the 'Document Source' section, select 'Scan Image.

8
QUICK START GUIDE
 When you hit 'OK' you will be taken to the image strip and on the top ribbon you will
have the option to pick your scanning device.

 When you select the 'Pick Device' button, you will be asked to chose your source
scanner. Select the scanner that you will be using.

 You will now have all of the scanning options available to you (Note: You only have
to select the scanner once during any session. From now on, the scanning options
will be available to you).
 If you are scanning a 1 page document, select the 'Scan Page' option, or if it is a
multiple page document, select the 'Scan Batch' option.

9
QUICK START GUIDE
 Your scanner driver should then open and you will have the option to change any
settings and then select 'scan' to pull the pages through the scanner and into the
image strip.

 Once the pages have been pulled into the image strip you have the option to verify
and edit the document prior to selecting 'Save'. Only when you select 'Save' will the
image be indexed in STREAM.
To remove pages, you select the page and right click choosing the 'remove page'
option. You can also drag pages into a re-arrange their order within the image strip.

10
QUICK START GUIDE
 Once you hit save, you will again get the Task Manager open up showing progress of
the file upload. Once you get the message 'SLD updated successfully' you will be able
to select the SLD and view the uploaded document in the viewing pane.

Editing a Document
In the scanning example above, an AD Status has been entered instead of a C of A. To edit a
document the process is very simple.
 Select the loaded SLD so that the image appears in the viewing pane, and then select
the 'edit' option.

 You will again be presented with the 'image strip' and you can simply highlight all
pages (Select the first page and then hit 'ctrl' and 'a' on your keyboard - all pages will
then be highlighted).

11
QUICK START GUIDE
 Once the pages to be removed are highlighted right click your mouse and select
'remove pages'. The image strip should now be blank.

 You will now need to load the correct pages through your scanner and then select
save. The corrected image will be available when you select the relevant SLD.

QUICK START GUIDE
Multi SLD Assistant
The Multi SLD tool can be used to load bulky folder in one easy step. Please refer to the GECAS
procedures guide for details on which items should be loaded using this feature.
NOTE: It is important that the file is named correctly when saved to your computer when using this
tool as the SLD will be created with the File Name as either the SLD Description or Reference
(Whichever you select).

To use the tool: -

1. Select the ‘Document Indexing’ tab and you will see a new button ‘Multi-SLD Import’. You
can use this from anywhere in the application and do not need to have a specific asset
selected. You can also use the function from the home screen.

2. Once selected, the following dialog will appear:

3. Populate the fields with the necessary information:

a) Target Asset – The Asset in which you wish the SLDs to appear
b) File Selection – Select ‘Browse’ to prompt the dialog which enables you to select a folder
of documents already stored on your computer.

13
QUICK START GUIDE
Once you have defined the folder where your documents are located, the folder
contents will appear in the viewer.

You have the options to ‘Select All’ of the files, ‘Select None’ of the files or you can
manually tick the checkboxes to select the files you want to upload.

c) Target TLD – Select an existing TLD. If your TLD does not yet exist, you will need to
create one in the usual way.
d) SLD Type – Select from the list. All SLDs that you create will have this same type.
e) TDash Subsection – The section of the Delivery Book (TDash) in which you wish the SLDs
to be indexed (i.e. H002 for OC-CM Chapter 23 Certs)
f) SLD Reference/SLD Description –

You can choose to use the file name as the SLD Reference or the SLD Description as
shown in the screenshots above. If you have chosen to use the filename as the SLD
Description, then the free text field will become the SLD Reference and vice versa.
Remember that the SLD Reference can be maximum 35 characters long, whereas the
SLD Description can be a maximum 300 characters. Advise here is to select 'Use of
source filename - Use as SLD Description. If entering Components you can enter the SLD
Reference as ATA 23 for example.

You also have the option to force the filename to use UPPERCASE letters by simply
ticking the box in the screenshot above.

g) SLD Location – The physical location of the hard-copy record.

h) Date – The date you wish all of the SLDs to be created with. Should be the date of the
document or group date if easier.

14
QUICK START GUIDE

4. Once all of the fields are populated with the relevant information, the ‘Import’ button at the
bottom of the dialog will become active. Clicking on this will initiate the file upload and SLD
creation.

5. When all rows have a status of ‘Complete’ you can then view your SLDs created in the VDash
or TDash after you refresh your screen. Clicking on any of the SLD's will reveal the associated
image in the viewing pane on the right hand side.

When using this tool it is important to use the SLD Ref field correctly. For Example, if loading a C & D
Cockpit door mod, use C & D Cockpit Door installation as the SLD Ref. You can then add a grouping
by SLD Ref (Right click on the header and select 'add grouping by SLD Ref'). All of the modifications
will then be separated rather than viewed in one long list.

15
QUICK START GUIDE
Using the Editing Dashboard

The Editing Dashboard can be used to determine which historical documentation is shown in the
TDash View to suit the project that you are working.
From the 'Document Review' Tab, select the 'Editing Dashboard' Icon and you will be presented with
a side-by-side view of the TDash and Vdash.

If there is a document currently present in the TDash which is not effective to the current project,
you can 'un-assign' it so that it does not appear in this view.
To do this, select the SLD and image in question and right click your mouse. You will see the option
to 'Remove from TDash'.
Choose this option and the document will 'disappear' from the TDash. However, the document will
still be available in the VDash linked to the event that you created. As an example, I have unassigned
the C of A we added for the event 'Re-Delivery from ABC Airlines - Delivery to XYZ Airlines'.

16
QUICK START GUIDE
You can see from the screenshot above, that the C of A for this event is no longer in the T-Dash, but
is in the VDash linked to the event.

If you feel a document in the VDash should be assigned to the TDash for your project, it is simply a
case of dragging a dropping the document from the VDash to the relevant TDash header on the left
hand side.

When this is done, you will see the document appear in the TDash and the T-Dash location be stated
in the relevant column of the VDash.

Examples
For each document that goes in to STREAM, it is necessary to create a sub-folder (SLD). As such for
each AD, CPCP Task, Hard-Time Component and LLP Trace file indexed should have a stand-alone
folder. The final result for AD's should look as follows in the T-Dash view: -

17
QUICK START GUIDE
Hard-Time Component Certificates & OC-CM Certificates should be entered using the Multi SLD tool
with the ATA Chapter as the reference as shown below.

Engine and Landing Gear Trace files should be entered using the Multi-SLD Tool With the Unit being
loaded as the reference (i.e. NLG LLP Trace). If you right click on the SLD Reference column and
select 'add grouping by SLD Ref' the docs for each gear/engine can be viewed separately.
