Kumar Saini, Shivangi Kaushik, Shubham Tiwary
1. Course Description: This is first course on Power Electronics, meant for developing basic skills of students
in this subject. The course covers basic types of switches and circuit topologies used in Power Electronics- the
DC-DC converters, rectifiers, and inverters. The design and analysis of these topologies are covered in detail.
The course also covers the modeling and control aspects of the power electronic circuits. The laboratory
experiments coupled with computer simulations provide better understanding of the power electronic devices
and circuits discussed in the classes.

2. Scope and Objective of the Course:

a. Overview of different power electronic switches
b. Steady-state analysis of basic power electronic converters- DC-DC converters, rectifiers, inverters
c. Design and operation of basic power electronic converters
d. Modelling of power converter circuits
e. Detailed design and simulation industrial power electronic converters
