2.0 EXISTING WATER SUPPLY SCHEME
2.1 The details of existing components of Water supply schemes in Uchehara are
discussed below-
Currently town is having on Nanu khedi Dam as a major water source located at a distance of 4.2 Km
outside the town. The raw water is further supplied to the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) for filter and
conditioning of water in order to make it drinkable.
Town is also having WTP facility of designed capacity of 2.52 MLD currently in operation with
capacity of 0.80 MLD. The clear water is further supplied to the Overhead Service Reservoir (OHSR) of
different capacity located at different locations and further distributed to House tap connections and
Public stand post via piped distribution network. Existing piped distribution network of the drawing
in “Annexure I” of the report.
The house tap connections are not fully covering all the households of the towns and making a
difference of 2097 Households (HH) are not having tap connections.
1. Intake well:-
The city is having its RCC Intake well at Guradia dam. At present the pump-motor set with a
combination of 3phase induction motor of 13 HP and vertical turbine pump of 16.16 LPS in installedat
intake well. Intake well is capacity - 2.52 MLD.
The RCC intake is constructed on the bank of Nanukheri Daamat intake channel for water incoming.

Population forcasting
6.0 POPULATION FORECASTING AND ESTIMATION
Analysing the population trend has been instrumental in assessment of probable design population, which
shall be the basis for ascertaining the adequacy of water supply system and designing the balance of
major components of water supply scheme along with other decisions related to planning. In the language
of infrastructure planning, assumptions about the future population (design population) are fundamental
in calculating demand for basic services. The correctness of population projections depends upon how
realistic their assumptions are, as forecasting is utilized in both demand calculation and cost estimation of
the projects. The erroneous forecast might lead town utilised or deficient capacities of project
components along with under or over budgeting resulting in adverse impact on execution of the projects.
A Three - decade population record from 1981-2011 is available, which has been used for population
projections and demand calculation.
The design population for next 30 years has been forecasted as per methods detailed out in CPHEEO
Manual, namely Arithmetic Increase, Geometric Mean, Incremental Increase and Graphical method.
Population Projection as given by these methods are also been evaluated in comparison to the State
Decadal growth rate so as to assess the correctness of future population for realistic water demand
assessment.
The population of the Kanad city for the past three decades are as follows,

AMRUT 2.0 Detailed Project Report
In making the population projections, a two-decade period from 1991-2011 has been used for demand
calculation. The design population for next 30 years has been forecasted for Uchehara town. As detailed out
in CPHEEO Manual, four different methods, namely Arithmetic Increase, Geometric Mean, Incremental
Increase and Graphical method of Population Projection have been considered asses the future population.
(Considering the factors (industrial, commercial, educational, social and administrative) that shall govern the
future growth and development of Uchehara, it has been inferred that the most suitable method for
population projection will be Incremental Increase Method. Future population of the city has been forecasted
by the following four methods:
This method of population projection is generally applied for forecasting population of old cities where the
rate of increase in population over last decades have been settled and the rate of change of population with
time has been constant. The method is based on the assumption that the population is increasing at a
constant rate, and there is no new population growth factor in the area. In this method, increase in
population of each decade is calculated& the average increase in population per decade is calculated by
dividing total increase in population with the number of decades considered.
Where : n = 3.00
Increase of 6206 in 3 decade’s means 2069 per decade is the growth rate. Taking this into consideration the
future population is,
The population at the end of any year is given the following expression.
Pn = P + d x 0.1 x n
Where,
Pn = Population after and years after base year
P= 2011 which is Population at the end of base year = 10458
d= Average increase in population decade = 2069
n= No. of years after base year ( no. of decade)
I Popu. In 2025 P2025 = 10458 + (2069 X 1.4)
2025 = 13355
II Popu. In 2040 P2040 = 10458 + (2069 X 2.9)
2040 = 16459
II Popu. In 2055 P2055 = 10458 + (2069 X 4.4)
2055 = 19562
The population at the end of any year is given the following expression.
Pn = P ( 1 + r ) 0.1 x n
Geometrical Mean of Percentage Increase(rg)
r = (0.531 x 0.329 x 0.209 ) ^(1/3)
= 0.332
Where,
n = 3.00 2.00
Average 2069 0
The population at the end of any year is given the following expression.
Pn = P + n x d x 0.1 + ( 0.1 x n ) ( 0.1 x n + 1 ) x I / 2
Where,
Pn = Population after and years after base year
P= 2011 which is Population at the end of base year = 10458
d= Average increase in population decade = 2069
n= No. of years after base year
I= Incremental Increase = 0
Popu. In 2025 = 10458+ (1.4x 2069) + 1.4x(1+1.4)x 0/2
= 13355
Popu. In 2040 = 10458+ (2.9x 2069) + 2.9x(1+2.9)x 0/2
= 16458
Popu. In 2055 = 10458+ (4.4x 2069) + 4.4x(1+4.4)x 0/2
= 19562
Summary :- Year Population

2040 16458
2055 19562
Based on the aforementioned methodology and evaluation performed, population has been projected for
Uchehara town for the specified stages based on numerical and graphical methods. A comparison of results
of population projection for Uchehara is shown below:
The details of the population projection from various methods are as below
6.4 CONCLUSION:-
From the above table it is observed that the population figures obtained by Geometrical Progression
are on heigher side, whereas population figure obtained by Arithmetical Progression Method,
Incremental Increase Method & Simple Graph Method is lower side but calculation by Decadal
Growth Method is quite reasonable considering recent growth pattern.
