Module for Rectangular Footing, Footing on Pile Cap, Footing subject to Axial

load and Moment (Using NSCP 2001 and 2015)

Design of Rectangular Footing

1.) Given the following:
Column: 600mm x 600 mm
Axial dead load = 1,680 kN
Axial live load = 1,350 kN
Depth of footing = 1.8 m
Allowable soil pressure = 230 kPa
Unit weight of soil above footing - 16 kN/m^3
Unit weight of concrete = 24 kN/m^3
Concrete compressive strength, f’c - 28 MPa
Steel yield strength, fy = 345 MPa
Design the footing if its width is limited to 3.2 m.
Use 25 mm bars and 75 mm clear concrete cover.

Footing on Pile Cap

1.) A reinforced concrete square footing supports a 500 mm x 500 column carrying
a total dead load of 1500 kN and a total live load of 1800 KN. Tir footing
dimension is 3.6 m X 3.6 m and is supported by 9 piles spaced 1.2 m apart on
a 3 x 3 formation f’c = 30 MPa, fy = 375 MPa. Design the footing. Assume the
piles are adequate to resist the loads. Pile diameter is 300 mm. Use 20 mm
bare.

Footing subject to Axial load and Moment

1.) Design the footing shown using the following data:
Allowable soil pressure, qa = 240 kPa
Steel strength, fy = 276 MPa
Concrete strength, f’c = 34 MPa
Unit weight of soil above footing - 16.8 kN/m^3
Unit weight of concrete = 24 kN/m^3
Deal load, Pot. = 1,400 kN
Live load, PiL = 1,850 kN
Dead load moment, MoL = 350 kN-m
Live load moment, Mu = 220 kN-m
Column size = 600 mm x 600 mm
Depth of footing - 1.8 m
Thickness of footing = 760 mm
Use 28 mm diameter bars and 75 mm clear cover.
