CALL FOR PAPERS Special Issue: International Entrepreneurship in the New Global Economy

The field of international entrepreneurship is concerned with how entrepreneurs identify and utilize opportunities across borders, and how the nature and impact of entrepreneurship differ across countries and regions. The speed and impact of globalization, the growing dominance of multinational corporations and outsourcing in the world economy, the rise of the BRICS economies and the challenges posed by food, water and land scarcity, climate change and other global public goods have made a reassessment of the field of international economics timely. Indeed, a legitimate question is how this relatively young discipline is (or should be) evolving in light of significant reconfigurations in the global economic landscape and the growing prominence of challenges with a global public good character. Hence the ERJ is calling for papers for a special issue of the Journal on International Entrepreneurship. Both empirical and theoretical papers, as well as multidisciplinary papers that offer critical and novel contributions to the field, in light of the context as described above, are welcome. In particular, papers that address the role that international entrepreneurship can play in economic and social development, growth, interactions with multinational corporations and global public goods, such as food security, water stress, peace-building, and green economic growth, are being sought. The Guest Co-Editors of this Special Issue are Wim Naud, Maastricht School of Management, UNU-MERIT and Maastricht University; and Jolanda Hessels, Erasmus University Rotterdam. The Guest Editors will work in conjunction with the ERJ Co-Editors and a Special Issue Executive Committee consisting of Hamid Etemad, McGill University, Canada; Charles van Marrewijk, Utrecht University, the Netherlands; and Shaker Zahra, University of Minnesota, USA. Submitted papers will have the opportunity to go through a review process and, if successful, will be subsequently published in the Entrepreneurship Research Journal as a Special Issue for 2013. A Microsoft Word file containing the paper may be uploaded/submitted here by 30 June 2012 with a cover letter identifying the submission as a response to this Call. Clarifying e-mail messages may be sent to the Guest Editors or Co-Editors via this same web address. Authors will be notified by 1 October 2012 via the website. There is no paper submission fee.
