Hospital and Jivdani Hospital that can provide the required care.

This is particularly
relevant in cases requiring ICU care or specialized services.
o Ambulance Services and Transport Arrangements: The hospital ensures that patients
requiring transfer to another facility are transported safely by qualified medical staff and
ambulance services.

3. Communication and Coordination

Objective:
To maintain clear communication with patients, their families, and hospital staff to ensure that patients are
aware of their care status and are kept informed throughout the process.

 Informing Patients and Families

o Explanation of the Situation: When a patient is being placed on hold for a bed, hospital
staff (nurses or physicians) should provide clear communication to the patient and their
family about the situation. This includes explaining that the hospital is experiencing a
temporary bed shortage and the expected waiting time.

o Regular Updates: The hospital staff provides periodic updates to the patients and families,
especially when there is a delay in bed availability or when the patient's condition changes.

 Coordination with Medical Teams

o Patient Care Continuity: While waiting for a bed, the medical team must continue to
monitor the patient's condition and provide necessary treatments. This includes:

 Adjusting medication or care protocols.

 Monitoring vital signs and addressing urgent medical needs.

 Documenting the patient’s progress and condition.

o Interdepartmental Collaboration: Effective communication between the emergency

department, ICU, IPD, and other departments is vital for prioritizing admissions and ensuring
that patients are promptly moved to an appropriate care setting as soon as a bed becomes
available.

4. Patient Safety and Quality of Care

Objective:
To maintain the highest standards of patient care and safety, even during situations of overcrowding or limited
bed availability.

 Safety Protocols

o Patient Monitoring: Continuous monitoring of vital signs and clinical condition for patients
in observation units or temporary care areas. Medical and nursing staff must ensure that all
patients are attended to with the same standard of care, regardless of the physical location.

o Preventing Complications: Special attention should be given to patients who may be at

risk of deterioration (e.g., postoperative patients, high-risk medical cases). Proactive steps
must be taken to prevent complications while the patient awaits full admission to a hospital
bed.

o Infection Control: Infection control practices must be rigorously followed in alternative care
spaces, including maintaining hygiene, proper disposal of medical waste, and using
appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to reduce hospital-acquired infections.
