Problem 1

An urn U1 contains 5 white balls, 8 red and 7 black. An urn U2 contains 3 white balls, 5 red and
12 black. We flip a fair coin. If the outcome is heads, then a ball from U1 is selected while if the
outcome is tails, then a ball from U2 is selected.
1. What is the probability of drawing a white ball?
2. Suppose that a white ball is selected. What is the probability that the coin landed head?
3. What is the probability of getting head and non-white ball?
Problem 2
An urn V1 contains 12 white balls and 8 black. Another urn V2 contains 4 white and 4 black. We
selected 2 balls from V1 and put them in V2 without looking at their colors then a ball is selected
from V2. What is the probability that the last ball is white?
