CREATE YOUR STRATEGY FROM SCRATCH

By Jade Beason

Utilise this workbook to develop a social media strategy that aligns with your goals
for this year and beyond. I strongly recommend going through this workbook while
watching my accompanying YouTube video. This will ensure a good understanding
of each step and help you complete it accurately.

Step One: Define your goals and objectives

This is a slightly dry, border-line boring step but it's vital to creating a strategy which
works!

Goals

Establish a single overarching goal for your business or personal brand. This goal should
evoke excitement and serve as your 'north star,' guiding all your actions. For instance,
examples could be 'building a community of like-minded entrepreneurs' or 'becoming a
long-term ambassador for my dream brand.'

Objectives

Your objectives must derive from your goals, representing specific achievements you aim to
accomplish through social media. For instance, if your goal is to build a community, focusing
on good engagement may be crucial. On the other hand, if your goal is to collaborate with
brands, growing your audience could be a key objective.

Metric
Now, it's time to assign a metric to your goal. This entails choosing one method to measure
the effectiveness of your social media content in achieving your goals. For example, if your
objective is about engagement, your metric will be the engagement rate. If your focus is on
growth, metrics could include reach, views, or follower count. For sales-related goals, the
metric would be… well, sales!

Set a deadline

Lastly, set a deadline for your objectives. Without a specific timeframe, you might
procrastinate (or dilly-dally as I like to call it), leading to delays in achieving your goals.

Define your audience

If your content is designed for everyone, it might not resonate with anyone. Be so
specific with your target audience that those outside it may find your content
repelling! Fill out the below information regarding your audience to get to know them
better.

What are your audience’s demographics?

E.g. Where are they located, what age are they, life stage etc

What are your audience's psychographics?

What do they like and dislike?

What are their pain points?

What bothers them/ what do they find frustrating?

Which social media platform will you be on?

It's important to focus on one channel at a time. If you're on multiple channels, your
core channel should be clear and prioritised, especially when life gets busy!

List your social media channels in order of importance

1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
Pick a posting frequency
Be sure to pick a posting frequency which works for you and your audience!

Write down how often you’d like to post on each of your channels

E.g. YouTube - 2 long videos per week.

And that’s it! Congratulations, you’re the proud new owner of a social media
strategy.
