From Hoodie to Suit
In the past, what people wore to work used to be very predictable. Men who worked
in offices wore suits and ties, while women wore jackets and skirts. In many
professions, moustaches were acceptable, but beards were considered
unprofessional. According to Amanda Brow, a human resource expert, workplace
fashion in 21st century is much more varied, but things haven’t really changed in
most workplaces.
“In start-up companies in the high-tech industry, employees can pretty much wear what
they like,” Brown says. “Employees can be neat or scruffy. The management doesn’t care. Often, this is a way that a
company shows its confidence. The company is saying that they don’t have to ‘dress to impress.’” Yet, when these
companies grow, there is often a noticeable change in what employees wear. Usually, staff members dress more
conservatively.
What causes this change? “When a company grows, the employees need to interact with more people
and with a variety of different people,” Brown says. “Most companies still want to do business with
people who are well dressed. For these companies, a neat person is a responsible person. Look at how
Mark Zuckerberg looks now. He used to wear hoodies all the time, but now we see him more often in
suits. Because he is running a large company, he wants to show that he’s dependable.”

attracted to the state for hiking and fishing. Swimmers enjoy its sandy beaches and sparkling lakes. Few visitors, whether
sports enthusiasts or sightseers, can resist trying Maine’s delicious, boiled lobbers. None can ignore the splendor of
Maine’s scenery.
4. A slow and gradual movement of earth downhill is called creep. It occurs so slowly that it is sometimes not
noticed. It results in titled telephone poles and fences and cracked walls and sidewalks. Creep can be caused by the force
of gravity pulling the top layers of a gentle slope. Changes in temperature resulting in contraction and expansion can also
cause creep.
5. Some animals such as the cheetah can run fast. The cheetah can run at speeds as fast as 80 miles per hour. The
