MY SELF

My name is Maria. I am eight years old. I live at


No.4, Taman Ros, Kuantan. I am studying in
Sekolah Kebangsaan Teruntum. I have two sisters
and a brother. I like to eat fried chicken. My hobby
is reading. My ambition is to be a teacher.

MY MOTHER

My mother’s name is Noraini. She is thirty


years old. She is a teacher .She is a cheerful lady.
Her students like her very much.
RAJ’S BIRTHDAY

Yesterday was Raj’s birthday. His mother


prepared fried noodles, rice, chicken curry and
some sandwiches. His birthday cake was big. There
were nine candles on it. Many of his friends came
for the party. They brought presents for him. They
wished him ‘Happy Birthday’.

MY BROTHER

My elder brother’s name is Zulhasyimi. He is


twenty four years old. His hobby is playing tennis.
He always helps me with my homework. I like him
very much.
MY CLASSROOM

My classroom is big and clean. The teacher’s


table is in front of the class. There is a vase of
flowers on the table. The books are arranged neatly
on the bookshelf. I always keep my classroom,
clean.

KUMAR’S HOBBY

Kumar likes to draw. He is good at drawing


animals. He uses a brush when he paints the
pictures. He always draws during his free time.
FARIDAH’S DIARY

On Sundays, Faridah goes for Music classes.


She has English tuition on Mondays. On Tuesday,
she goes swimming with her friends. The next day,
she has Art classes. She goes jogging with her
parents on Thursday. On Fridays, she plays tennis
with her brother.

MY HOBBY

I like fishing. I always go fishing with my father.


We go fishing every Sunday morning. We always
catch a big fish. My mother fries the fish for us.

A VISIT TO THE MARKET


Last week, Shamini followed her mother to the
market. They took a bus there. Shamini’s mother
bought some fish, meat and vegetables. At the fruit
stall, they bought some oranges and a watermelon.
They went home at half past nine.

AN ELEPHANT

An elephant is a wild animal. It is big and has a


long trunk. It is grey in colour. It lives in the jungle.
Elephants like to eat plants and sugarcane.

DINNER AT RIVERSIDE STALL


Last Saturday night, Vishnu and his parents
went out for dinner. They went to the food stalls
near the river. The stalls are open every night.
Vishnu’s father ordered a plate of fried rice. His
mother ordered fried noodles. Vishnu ate rice and
fish curry.

AMIN’S HOBBY

Amin has a special hobby. His hobby is


collecting sweet wrappers. He has many sweet
wrappers. The wrappers are colorful. He gets them
from his friends and relatives. He keeps them in a
box.

A TIGER
A tiger is a wild animal. It lives in the jungle. It
has stripes on its body. A tiger likes to eat meat.
The young of a tiger is called a cub.

AHMAD’S PET

Ahmad has a pet. It is a rabbit. He calls it Cumi.


Cumi is small and cute. It has white fur. It also has
two long ears. Cumi has a ‘fluffy tail’. It likes to eat
carrots and cabbages. Ahmad likes to play with
Cumi every day.

GOING TO SCHOOL

Rita wakes up at half past six in the morning.


She brushes her teeth and takes a bath. Then, she
puts on her school uniform and combs her hair. She
takes her breakfast at 7 o’ clock. She goes to
school by bus.

HAPPY DEEPAVALI

Today is Deepavali. Uma puts on her new saree


and wishes her parents ‘Happy Deepavali’. She is
excited because her friends are coming to her
house in the afternoon. Uma’s mother is cooking
many dishes for her friends.

GOING TO THE MARKET


Fatimah wakes up at 7 o’clock in the morning.
She follows her mother to the market at half past
seven. Her mother buys fish, meat, vegetables and
some fruits there. They return home by taxi.

MY TOY

I have a doll. I keep it on the shelf. It has


beautiful long hair. Its dress is white and [Link]
wears a pair of blue shoes. My doll is my favourite
toy. I play with it every day.

A COMPUTER

A computer has a screen which looks like a


television. It is called the monitor. It also has a
keyboard. The letters on the keyboard are arranged
the same way as on typewriter.

FARID’S NEW BICYCLE

Farid’s father gave him a new bicycle on his


birthday. Farid was very happy. He likes cycling
very much. Every evening, he cycles around the
playground. He keeps his bicycle clean.

OUR NATIONAL FLOWER

The hibiscus is our National Flower. It is a


beautiful flower. It is red in colour. It has five petals.
I like to plant hibiscus in my garden.

FLOWERS

We have flower gardens in front of almost all


our houses. We grow many different kinds of
plants. Some are in pots while others are grown in
the ground. We can grow plants like orchids,
sunflower, hibiscus, cannas, and roses in our
gardens. The flowers are colourful and beautiful.

FISHMONGER

Rusdi is a fishmonger. He has a stall in the


market. He sells fresh fish, crabs, prawns and
cuttlefish. Rusdi is a very friendly and hardworking
man.

A FIRE

Encik Kassim’s house was on fire. His


neighbour telephoned the fire station and called for
an ambulance. The fire brigade arrived and the
firemen quickly put out the fire. The villagers
promised to help Encik Kassim repair his house.

A BOOKSHOP

Nisha wants to buy a storybook. She goes to


the bookshop near her house. It is a small shop.
There are many books on the shelves. There are
also many kinds of magazines there.

AT PLAYGROUND

Liza and Mary are playing in the playground.


They are sitting on a see-saw. Liza is wearing a
yellow dress. Mary is wearing a pair of grey shoes
and has a cap on her head.

MY HOUSE

I have a house. It is a bungalow. It is white in


colour. I like my house because it I big and
beautiful. There is a garden and a swimming pool
beside my house.

AT THE MARKET

It was a Sunday morning. I went to the market


with my mother. There were many stalls at the
market. There were fishmongers, butcher and
vegetables sellers. My mother bought some fish
and vegetables.

MY UMBRELLA

I have an umbrella. It is very colourful. It is very


useful when raining. I always take my beautiful
umbrella to school. I also use it when it is too hot.

A PICNIC

Fazidah and her family went for a picnic at the


beach last Sunday. Many people were there.
Fazidah and her brother swam in the sea. Her
father sat under a shady tree. Her mother prepared
some food for them. They were very happy.

ZHARIF’S NEW BICYCLE

Zharif has a new bicycle. It is purple in colour.


The bicycle has lamps in front and at the back. It
has two yellow wheels. Every evening, Zharif rides
the bicycle with friends. He cleans his bicycle
everyday.

MY GRANDFATHER’S GOATS

My grandfather has three goats. They are black


in colour. He takes good care of his goats. The
goats like to eat grass. Goats give us mutton and
milk.

CROCODILE

A crocodile is a reptile. It lives in the river. It


has sharp teeth and a strong tail. It eats meat. it
lays egg.
NORAINI

Noraini gets up at half past six every morning.


She takes her bath and wears her school uniform.
She has her breakfast at seven o’clock. She waits
for her school bus at a quarter past seven. Noraini
reaches school at half past seven. She goes home
at half past one in the afternoon.

MUTIARA VILLA

Mutiara Villa is just beside the beach. It has


four bedrooms. It is made of wood. There are many
coconut trees around it. There is also a big garden
in front of the bungalow.
HAMIMAH

Hamimah is engineer. He works in a factory.


Her hobbies are gardening and drawing. He likes
eat fruits but not curry. Hamimah has short hair
and small eyes. She likes to wear a baju kurung
when she goes to work.

A TORTOISE

A tortoise is a reptile. It crawls slowly on land.


Its shell is very hard. A tortoise eats small animals
and plant.
A HARDWORKING BOY

Azlim lives in a village. He is a pupil of Sekolah


Kebangsaan Melor. He cycles to school every
morning. The school is about four kilometres from
his house. Azlim is a hardworking and helpful boy.
He always completes his homework every day. He
usually helps his father in the farm. His father is
very proud of him.

SUZY’S PET

Suzy has a cat. Its name is Kelabu. Kelabu is a


large grey cat. It has thick, soft fur and a short tail.
It has green eyes and sharp claws. Kelabu likes
milk and fish very much.
MR. LEE, A SHOPKEEPER

Mr. Lee owns a sundry shop. He is a


hardworking man. He opens his shop early in the
morning. His wife helps him in the shop. His
customers like to go to his shop because the things
are cheap.

LIBRARY

There is a public library in Kuantan. It is a big


building and is green in colour. My father always
takes me there. There are many books. I like to go
there on Sundays.

AT THE CIRCUS

The children are at the circus. There is a clown


standing near the tent. He has a monkey on his
shoulder. The man at the gate is selling some
balloons. Some children are having a ride on an
elephant. They are very happy.

AT THE SEASIDE

It is a fine day. Salmi and her friends are at the


seaside. Mimi and Nora are building a sandcastle.
Noraini and Selvi are swimming in the sea.
HARI RAYA PUASA

Today is the first day of Hari Raya Puasa. Encik


Halim and his family are dressed up in their
traditional costumes. Encik Halim is wearing a baju
Melayu. Puan Habibah and her daughter are
wearing baju Kurung.

NURSERY RHYMES COMPETITION

Rani, Anis and Mary are very excited. They are


going to take part in a Nursery Rhymes
Competition. Anis and Rani are wearing jeans and
T-shirts. Mary is wearing a beautiful dress. They are
waiting for their turn.
PAK MAT’S ORCHARD

Pak Mat has an orchard. There are durian,


rambutan, mangosteen and mango trees in his
orchard. He has hundreds of durian trees there.
Many fruit sellers come in lorries to buy his fruits.

A STADIUM

A stadium is a very big building. It is round in


shape. There is a field in the centre of the stadium.
There is also a big scoreboard in the stadium.
HOM PLANTS HELP US

Plants give us many types of food. The rice we


eat comes from seeds produced by plants. We also
eat the fruits of many plants. When we eat
potatoes, carrots or tapioca, we are eating the
roots of plants. Plants are very useful. That is why
we must take care of them.

ZAINAL THE POSTMAN

Encik Zainal is a postman. He works in a post


office. He goes to work at half past seven on his
motorcycle. He delivers letters and parcels. He is a
kind and hardworking man.
CAMPING

Last Saturday evening, Ranjit and his family


went camping. They cooked their own food near
the tent. They sang songs and played games. At
night, they slept in the tent. They enjoyed
themselves very much.

MY SELF

My name is Farid. I am nine years old. I live at


No. 21, Indera Mahkota 3, Kuantan. I go to Sekolah
Kebangsaan Indera Mahkota. I am in Year 3. I have
three brothers and two sisters. I like to eat noodles
and fried rice. My hobbies are reading and
collecting stamps. When I grow up, I want to be a
lawyer.

MY FATHER

My father’s name is Mustaffa. He is forty years


old. He is a civil engineer at R&R Constructions. He
constructs buildings. My father drives a grey Proton
Waja to work. My father always helps me in my
homework. My father is a very gentle and kind
man. I love him very much.

AI LEEN AND HER BEST FRIEND

Ai Leen is studying is Sekolah Kebangsaan


Permatang Badak. She is a tall and thin girl. She
has many friends. Her best friend is Aisyah. They
go to school together. Every Sunday, they play
badminton together. Sometimes, they go to the
library to study. They are smart girls.

AHMAD

Ahmad wakes up at half past six every


morning. He brushes his teeth and takes a bath.
Then, he puts on his school uniform and combs his

MY BEST FRIEND

I have a best friend. His name is Govinda. We


are classmates. Govinda lives in Taman Bayu,
Kuantan with his family. His house is near the
beach. I always go to Govinda’s house during the
weekends.
GOOD FRIENDS

Ramesh and Jasin are [Link] live in


Taman Mahkota, Kuantan. Ramesh and Jasin are
good friends. They go to the same school. Both of
them like to play hockey.

MAK SU’S STALL

Mak Su has a stall opposite the market. She


sells very delicious nasi lemak. She also sells fried
noodles and many local cakes. Many people like to
eat her nasi lemak. Her stall is always crowded.
A PICNIC

Last Sunday, Mei Lin and her family went for a


picnic at the beach. They went there by car. Mei Lin
and her brothers swam in the sea. They also
collected sea-shells and built sandcastles. They
returned home in the evening.

MY UNCLE

My uncle is a fisherman. He lives in a small


fishing village. Every morning he takes his boat out
to the sea to catch fish. He sells the fish at the
market.
MY FAVOURITE FRUIT

My favourite fruit is durian. The flesh of the


durian is yellow in colour. The skin is hard and
covered with thorns. It is called the ‘King of Fruits’.
I like to eat durians because they are delicious.

AT THE SUPERMARKET

Puan Zainab took her son, Azmi to


supermarket. She bought some pencils, erasers, a
sharpener and a few exercise books for him. She
also bought some sugar, rice and eggs. Azmi
helped his mother to carry the things.
A VISIT TO THE ZOO

During the holidays, Encik Razak took his


family to the zoo. His children were very excited.
They saw many animals there. There were birds,
tigers, giraffes, lions, elephants and many other
animals. Encik Razak and his family had a
wonderful time there.

ROSLAN VISITS HIS UNCLE

During the holidays, Roslan went to his uncle’s


house by car. His uncle lives in a fishing village in
Kelantan. His uncle took him out fishing in a
motorboat. In the evening, Roslan cycled around
the village with his cousins. He enjoyed himself
very much.
AZRUL’S FAMILY

Azrul lives with his family in Kuala Lipis. He has


a sister. His mother is a clerk and his father is an
engineer. His mother likes to wear baju kurung.
Azrul’s father always wears a pair of trousers, a
shirt and a tie to work.

MIMI’S NEW HOUSE

Mimi is going to live in her new house next


week. The house is situated in Indera Mahkota 5. It
is a big house. It has two bathrooms, a dining
room, a living room and a kitchen. She is very
happy. He is also very excited.
FARMER ONG

[Link] is a farmer. He has a small farm in


Panching. He grows many kinds of vegetables on
his farm. In the evenings, he waters the vegetables
at the market. Many people like to buy his
vegetables because they are fresh and cheap.

MY MOTHER

My mother’s hobby is gardening. She plants


roses, orchids, hibiscus, cannas and lilies in her
garden. The flowers are beautiful and colourful.
Every evening, she waters the plants. She takes
care of her garden.
AT THE ORCHARD

Yesterday, Bakar went to his grandfather’s


orchard. Samy and Kok Wah followed him. The
orchard is situated in a village. The boys ate plenty
of fruits. They enjoyed eating the fruits. They also
took home some fruits.

A COW

A cow is a mammal. It has two sharp horns. It


eats grass. It is a big and strong animal. It gives us
milk and beef. It usually lives in a shed.
FISHING

Today is a holiday. Raju and Hassan are going


fishing. They are going to the river near their
house. They are taking their fishing rods and
hooks. Both of them like fishing very much.

A TIGER

A tiger is a wild and fierce animal. It has stripes


on his body. It also has sharp claws. A tiger likes to
eat meat. It lives in the jungle. A baby tiger is
called a cub.
FIKRI’S AQUARIUM

Fikri has an aquarium. It is rectangular in


shape. The aquarium is made of glass. There are
five goldfishes in his aquarium. Every day, he feeds
the fish. He cleans his aquarium once a week.

CHRISTMAS DAY

Today Peter is very happy. It is Christmas day.


He is wearing his new clothes. There is a Christmas
tree in the living room. There are many presents
under the tree. His parents wish him ‘Merry
Christmas’.
COLLECTING STAMPS

Liyana likes to collect stamps. She has stamps


from many different countries. She keeps her
stamps in a stamp album. Sometimes, she
exchanges them with her friends.

MY MOTHER

My mother’s name is Puan Zainun. She is


thirty-five years old. He was born in Teluk Intan. My
mother is tall and beautiful. She has long hair. Her
hobby is sewing. She is a kind and helpful woman.

MY PET
I have a pet cat. Its name is Tampok. It is black
and white in colour. It has sharp claws and a long
tail. It sleeps in a basket in my room. At night,
Tampok catches mice. I love Tompok very much.

CLEANING THE SCHOOL

Last weekend, there was a ‘gotong-royong’ at


Ranjit’s school. The headmaster, teachers and
pupils were all present. They cleaned up the school
compound. They also painted the school building.
Everyone worked very hard.

PLAYING BADMINTON
Salina likes to play badminton. He plays in a
court near her house. She usually plays with her
friend, Rani. They wear their track bottoms and T-
shirts. Both of them have their own racquet.

A KIND NURSE

Cik Tina is a nurse. She works in a hospital. She


drives a car to work. She is very kind. Every day,
she gives her patients medicine. She takes good
care of them. They like her very much.

MY BABY BROTHER
My baby brother’s name is Roshen. He has a
cute round face. His eyes are big. He likes to drink
milk. He sleeps in a cot.

THE LOST KITTEN

This morning, Anita found a kitten in a


monsoon drain near her house. It was wet and
dirty. She took it home with her. She cleaned up the
kitten. Then she gave it some milk to drink.
MY TEACHER

Miss Devi is my teacher. She is a good teacher.


She teaches me English. He likes to wear a salwar
kameez to school. She is kind to her pupils. Her
pupils always respect her.

MY FAMILY

My family consists of five members. They are


my father, mother, brother, sister and I. My father
is a doctor and my mother is a housewife. My
brother is studying in Year 5 and my sister is only
three years old. I am studying in SK Permai. I love
my family very much.
CHINESE NEW YEAR

The Chinese in Malaysia celebrate Chinese New


Year. Before Chinese New Year, many families clean
their houses and make cakes to serve visitors who
come to their homes. On Chinese New Year’s Day,
the children get ‘angpows’.

THE COCONUT PALM

The coconut palm grows to be very tall. There


are long leaves at the top of the palm. The coconut
is the fruit of the coconut palm. There is water and
layer of flesh inside the nut.

THE WATERMELON
The watermelon is a common local fruit. It is
round and green in colour. It has dark green
stripes. The flesh inside the fruit is sweet and juicy.
It has small black seeds.

A CLEVER BOY

Faris is a clever boy. He is in Year 3. Last year,


he was first in his class. His father said, ‘Good!’
This year he wants to do better. He wants to do
well in all the subjects.

AT THE CLINIC
Weng Kee went to see the doctor. He had a
fever and a sore throat. The doctor treated him and
gave him some medicine. He told him to rest for a
few days. Weng Kee thanked the doctor.

THE OLD MARKET

There is a small market in Kampung Gajah. The


market is an old building. It is made of wood and
bricks. It is in front pf a petrol station. There are
many stalls in the market. People sell fish, meat,
vegetables and fruits in the market.

OUR NATIONAL FLOWER


The hibiscus is our national flower. It has five
petals. It is red in colour. It is a beautiful flower. It
grows from cuttings. People grow hibiscus in their
gardens.

THE ICE-CREAM MAN

[Link] is an ice-cream seller. He sells ice-cream


in our housing estate. He uses a motorcycle to sell
his ice-cream. He rings a bell when he comes
around. I like his ice-cream very much.

THE RAINBOW
It is raining but the sun is shining. There is a
rainbow in the sky. It is beautiful and colorful. It has
seven colours. The colours are red, orange, yellow,
green, blue, violet and indigo.

HARI RAYA PUASA

Lukman wakes up early on Hari Raya morning.


He puts on his new clothes. He wishes his parents
‘Selamat Hari Raya’. Then he goes to the mosque
with his father. He also visits his uncles, aunts and
friends. They served ’ketupat’, ’rendang’ and
many kinds of cakes. He is very happy.

SPORTS DAY

It was Sports Day at Farid’s school last


Saturday. Many parents came to watch the sports.
Many pupils took part in the events. Later, the
headmaster gave away the prizes.

A VISIT TO THE MUSEUM

During the holidays, Peter and his friends went


to the museum. They saw many things there. There
saw pictures of people in many kinds of clothes.
They saw old coins, pots, and plates. They also saw
many old tables and chairs. The visit was very
interesting.

MY GARANDPARENTS

My grandparents live in Kuantan. My


grandfather is sixty years old. My grandmother is
fifty-five years old. They have ten children and
fifteen grandchildren. My grandparents are very
kind. I love them very much.

WELL DONE

Yesterday, Muthu played football. He played


very well. He kicked the ball very far. He scored
goal. ’Well done!’ the children shouted and clapped
their hands. Muthu was very happy. Muthu’s team
won the game.

THREE GOODS FRIENDS

Anis, Gaya, Aina are good friends. They go to


the same school. Gaya is the tallest of the three
girls. Aina is the shortest. She is the also the
fattest. She likes to eat chocolates.

TEACHER’S DAY

Today is Teacher’s Day. The Headmistress is


giving a speech to the pupils. They are listening to
her. After the speech, the pupils will give their
teachers presents. There will be a party for
everyone.

THE PEOPLE OF MALAYSIA

Malaysia is a beautiful country with different


kinds of people. There are Malays, Indians and
Chinese, Ibans, Kadazans and others. The people of
Malaysia do different types of work. They work and
live happily together.
