AE 262 – HOMEWORK 3

Due on December 1, 2024 at 23:59

Please follow the rules given at the last page of the homework sheet while
preparing your homeworks.

1-) Determine the angular acceleration of link CD if link AB has the angular velocity
and angular acceleration shown.

2-) If the center O of the gear is given a velocity of 𝑣0 = 12 𝑚/𝑠,

determine the velocity of the slider block B at the instant shown.

Due on December 1, 2024 at 23:59

Please follow the rules given at the last page of the homework sheet while
preparing your homeworks.

3-) If the slider block A is moving to the right at 𝑣𝐴 = 9 𝑓𝑡/𝑠, determine the
velocities of blocks B and C at the instant shown. Member CD is pin
connected to member ADB.

4-) A pendulum has a swinging motion such that 𝛩 = [−0.101 sin(4.95𝑡) +

0.3𝑐𝑜𝑠(4.95𝑡)] rad, where t is in seconds, and the arguments for the sine and
cosine are in radians. Determine the magnitudes of the velocity and acceleration
of the bob when 𝛩 = 0°.

5-) The bar remains in contact with the floor and with point A. If point B
moves to the right with a constant velocity 𝒗𝑩 , determine the angular
velocity and angular acceleration of the bar as a function of 𝑥.

Due on December 1, 2024 at 23:59

Please follow the rules given at the last page of the homework sheet while
preparing your homeworks.

6-) At the instant shown, 𝛩 = 60°, and rod AB is subjected

to a deceleration of 16 𝑚/𝑠 2 when the velocity is 10 𝑚/𝑠.
Determine the angular velocity and angular acceleration of
link CD at this instant.

Prepare your homeworks considering the remarks below:

1. The process of obtaining results is just as important as the results themselves. Therefore, ensure
you explain your approach and any assumptions made. Clearly show all calculation steps in detail,
as this is a thorough exercise with ample time to explain the steps. Take care when rounding
numbers.
2. The work you submit should accurately reflect your personal effort and understanding of the
topics. While discussions with peers regarding solution methods or reviewing each other’s
findings are acceptable, any further assistance should be limited. Duplicate or identical work will
be discarded.
3. The presentation of your homework will impact your overall grade, so ensure it is neatly
organized.
4. Only PDF format will be accepted.
5. Late homeworks will not be accepted!!
