III. Procedure Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
A. Preliminary Activities
Everybody please stand and may I request (the student will lead a prayer)
Michaela to lead us a prayer.
Please pass your assignments that I have (students will pass their
given you last time. assignments on the front.)
Good morning class. Good morning, Sir, it is nice to
see you today!
It’s nice to see you too. Before you take your
seats, kindly arrange your chair and pick-up (the students arrange their chairs
some pieces of paper under your chair. and pick up the pieces of paper)
Okay, I see everything is clean. You may Thank you sir.
now take your seat.
Turn your phone into silent mode to avoid Yes, sir. (the students will keep
any interruption and keep your phone inside their phones in their bag)
your bag.
Class, who is absent today? None, sir.
Alright. Very Good. Give yourself a ‘’YES”
clap for attending this class and having a (the students will do the YES
complete attendance. clap)
B. Developmental Activities
Let us have a short recap of our previous Our last lesson was all about the
lesson. What was our last lesson all about? characteristics of light.
Very good! To check your understanding, let
us try this activity called “Fill in the blank”
Instructions: Complete the paragraph below
by choosing the appropriate words from the Okay, sir!
box. All clear class? Let us start, then.
The apparent _______ is not the actual
amount of visible light produced by a
source. It decreases as the distance between (the students raise their hands
the light source and the illuminated and choose the correct answer.)
surface______. It is also affected by the
______ of the light source. And the intensity Answer:
of light source is affected by the chemical 1. brightness
composition of the light source. 2. increases
3. intensity
Proper lighting is crucial for creating 4. safe
functional, ______, and visually pleasing 5. illumination
environments. It ensures adequate ________
for various tasks, enhances safety and
security, contributes to the aesthetics of a
space, and promotes energy efficiency.
● illumination
● safe
● increases
● intensity
● brightness
It’s a good start, that you understand our
previous lesson. Good job everyone!
C. Motivation
To engage you more for today’s lesson you
will be having an activity called “Letter
Hunt: Characteristic of a person”
Direction: I will divide this class in to four
groups. Based on the different situations or
characteristics that I will present to you, all
you have to do is to identify the word that
starts with the letters H, E, A, and T.
Situations/Characteristics:
1. A gas that surrounds us. We breathe it in Air
and out.
2. Having a high temperature. Walking in Hot
streets at 12:00nn.
3. Full of energy and enthusiasm. Feeling Energized
motivated.
4. Feeling exhausted or fatigued. Feeling Tired
luck of energy
So, what are the letters that we identify? H, E, A, and T, sir!
With that, what do you think our lesson for I think we will be talking about
today? heat, sir.
D. Presentation of the Lesson
Let us now begin our discussion on
today’s topic.
Based on some of the questions I asked you Sir, heat transfer is the
earlier, what comes to your mind flow of thermal energy from
when you hear the word heat transfer? one body to another as a result
of a difference intemperature.
That’s correct, very good!
Heat is just another term for thermal energy
that is moving. In the scientific sense, heat
flows any time there is a difference in
temperature. Heat transfers naturally
from the warmer object to the cooler
one or from higher temperature to
lower temperature.
How about temperature, what is its Sir, heat is measured in joules
difference to heat? while temperature is measured
in Celsius,Kelvin, Fahrenheit or
Rankine.
Yes, that’s right! Any other answers? Sir, temperature is measured
based on the hotness and
coldness of a
substance/object.
Yes, that’s correct! Temperature and heat are
related but often confused since
temperature measures the random kinetic
energy of a single molecule or atom or
simply the hotness and coldness of an
object. Whereas, heat is the movement
of thermal energy from high energy to
lower energy to achieve thermal
equilibrium of an object.
E. Discussion Proper
There are different methods of heat Sir, based on the pictures the
transfer. Will you enumerate them three methods of heat
based on the pictures shown in front? transfer is conduction,
convection and radiation.
Very good! Will you describe the Sir, the process of conduction is
process of conduction based on the the transfer of heat through
picture? direct contact.
Very good! Conduction is the transfer of Sir, an example of conduction is
heat by the direct contact of particles a metal spoon on a hot coffee.
of matter. Can you give me an example of The spoon made of metal
heat transfer in conduction? directly contact the hot water
in the cup resulting the
transfer of heat from the cup into
teaspoon
That’s right! Also, when we try to
touch a mug that has been poured with hot
water. Heat will now be transferred to
our hands. Those are an example of
conduction
What about convection, how do you Sir, the process of convection
describe this method of heat transfer? is the transfer of heat through
fluid caused by molecular
motion.
That’s correct! Unlike conduction the
process of heat transfer of convection is
through the motion of fluids such as air and
water. Example is when you boil hot
water. The temperature of molecules
within the water increases and slowly
move upwards. The hot water
molecules become less dense,and they
rise above the denser cooler molecules.
This movement of molecules creates
the convection current.
How about radiation, how do you Sir, heat is transferred
describe this method of heat transfer? through radiation or transmitted
in the form of rays or wave
particles.
Yes, that’s right! Thermal radiation is
transferred in the form of
electromagnetic waves, including light.
An example of this is when you stand in the
sun on a cold, calm day, you will feel
warmth from the sun. Heat from the
sun is transferred to Earth by thermal
radiation.
Okay class, based on the definition of heat Sir, based on the definition,
transfer through radiation, kindly give me an example of radiation would
another example of radiation. be when we are at a campsite.
We often do a bonfire at the
campsite. While Standing or
beside the bonfire, we
experienced the transfer of
heat without direct contact with
the [Link] heat from the fire is
transferred through radiation.
F. Application
Alright, class! Now, in your everyday Sir, in my daily life, my mother
life, can you give me other instances in does her ironing as an
which we can observe the transfer of heat. example of conduction because
the heat from the flat iron
transfers to the clothes, and it
Nice observation! Very good! has direct contact with it.
How about radiation? In what instances can
we observe the transfer of heat through
radiation? When we walk to school, we feel
the sun hit our skin.
Okay, that’s correct.
Very Good! Heat transfer is an essential
part of our daily lives. Based on the
picture, why do you think sweating is
necessary to a human person?
Sir, it is necessary because when
we sweat, we release heat from
the body which helps us cool
down a bit.
That’s right! The evaporation of
oursweat consumes energy (latent
heat)which our body wants to get rid of in a
form of heat. This process helps your
body to stay cool, whether it’s due to high
fever when we are sick or running a
marathon. Our bodies will overheat if we
did not sweat.
G. Generalization

lesson, try this activity “fill in the blank”
