1. Management is a goal oriented Process

• Every organization is established to achieve some
goals. Goals are the basic reason for the existence of
the organization. Different organizations have
different goals.
• For example : The goal of a retail store may be to
increase sales, but the goal of a school is to impart
education to children.

2. Management is a continuous Process

• Management is a continuous or never-ending function. All
the functions of management are performed
simultaneously.
• For example : Managers at the top level spends more time
in planning and organizing than managers at lower levels of
the organization.
3. Management is a group activity
• Management consists of several people who work as a
group. Efforts of all the members were directed towards
the achievement of common goals.
• Each and every member of the organization have a
different purpose for joining the organization. But as a
member of the organization, they work towards fulfilling
the common organizational goal.

4. Management is an Intangible force

• Management function cannot be physically seen but its
presence can be felt.
• The presence of management can be felt by seeing the
orderliness and coordination in the working environment.
1. PLANNING
"Planningis bringing the future into the present so that you
can do something about it now." – Alan Lakein
Planning is the process of thinking ahead and deciding in advance what
needs to be done, how it will be done, and when it will be done to
achieve a specific goal. It involves making choices about the best path
to take, setting goals, and figuring out the steps or actions needed to
reach those goals. It's like making a roadmap for the future to help
stay organized and on track.
2. ORGANISING
"Organizing is the art of turning chaos into clarity, creating a
path where success can follow."
Organizing is the process of arranging and coordinating
resources—like people, tasks, and materials—to achieve a goal. It
involves setting up a structure, assigning roles, and making sure
everything works together smoothly to complete a task or
project efficiently.
3. STAFFING
"Staffing is not just about filling positions; it's about finding the
right people to drive success and innovation."
Staffing is the process of finding, hiring, and training
the right people for a job or role within an
organization. It ensures that the business has the right
number of skilled employees in the right positions to
get work done effectively.
4. DIRECTING
"Directing is not just about telling people what to do; it's about
guiding them to discover their best selves and bringing a shared
vision to life."
Directing is about guiding and managing people, tasks, and resources to achieve a
company's goals. A business director makes important decisions, sets priorities,
and ensures everyone in the organization is working efficiently toward the same
objectives. They coordinate different departments, motivate employees, and
make sure that strategies are implemented correctly. Essentially, directing in
business is about leading the team to success by keeping everything organized and
on track.
5. CONTROLLING
"Controlling is not about limiting freedom; it's about ensuring
that actions align with goals and that progress is measured, so
success becomes achievable."
Controlling is the process of monitoring and managing a company’s performance
to ensure it meets its goals. It involves setting specific targets, measuring actual
performance, and comparing the two. If there are any gaps or issues, managers
can take corrective actions to keep everything on track. Essentially, controlling
helps ensure that the business is running smoothly and efficiently, making sure
that resources are used wisely and goals are achieved.
