to achieve a distinction (75%). Assuming that the
examination of each subjects is for 100 marks, for PT 1
and Term 1 are given as under.....................................13

Question 1 :
Prepare a document with
headings for 5 chapters
and a table of content to
it.
Answer :
1. Open Microsoft Word:
o Start with a blank document.
2. Create the Title Page (Optional):
o Add a title (e.g., "Research Document" or any relevant
title).
o
3. Insert the Table of Contents:
o Leave a blank page for the Table of Contents.
o Go to the "References" tab in the toolbar.
o Click on "Table of Contents" and choose an automatic
style. This will generate the Table of Contents based
on the heading styles you apply in the document.
o
4. Add Chapter Titles and Subheadings:
o Start with "Chapter 1: Information and
communication technology" on a new page.
o Type out the headings and subheadings for the
chapter (e.g., "1.1 Background," "1.2 Objectives").
o Repeat this for all chapters, formatting each chapter
on a new page.
o
5. Apply Heading Styles:
o Highlight the chapter title (e.g., "Chapter 1:
Information and communication technology ") and
apply "Heading 1" from the "Home" tab.
o For subheadings (e.g., "1.1 Background"), apply
"Heading 2." This will allow Word to recognize these
headings for the Table of Contents.
o
6. Update the Table of Contents:
o After formatting all chapters and subheadings with
the appropriate heading styles, go back to the Table of
Contents page.
o Click on the Table of Contents and choose "Update
Table" → "Update entire table" to automatically
generate the list of chapters and sections.
o
7. Format the Document:
o Adjust the font, size, and spacing to your preference.
o Use "Page Breaks" (Ctrl + Enter) to ensure each
chapter starts on a new page.
8. Add Page Numbers (Optional):
o Go to the "Insert" tab, click on "Page Number," and
choose a position for the numbers (e.g., bottom of the
page).

Step 1: Open Excel and Create a New Worksheet
1. Launch Microsoft Excel.
2. Start a new blank workbook.
Step 2: Set Up the Headings
1. In cell A1, type "Exam."
2. In cell B1, type "English."
3. In cell C1, type "Mathematics."
4. In cell D1, type "Science."
Step 3: Enter the Given Data
1. In cell A2, type "PT 1." Then enter the marks as follows:
o Cell B2: 72 (English)
o Cell C2: 63 (Mathematics)
o Cell D2: 54 (Science)
2. In cell A3, type "Term 1." Then enter the marks as follows:
o Cell B3: 70 (English)
o Cell C3: 69 (Mathematics)
o Cell D3: 80 (Science)
o In cell A4, type "Term 2." Set the values as 0 for now:
Cell B4: 0
Cell C4: 0
Cell D4: 0
o In cell A5, type "Required Marks for Distinction."

Step 4 : In cell E2, calculate the average for English using
formula =average(B2:D2)
Using it calculate the average of Mathematics and Science too.
Step 5 : Calculate the average of the average of PT 1 and term 1
by putting value of E4=0 and find average in E5.
Step 6:Use Goal Seek to in the Average row
[Link] to the "Data" tab in the toolbar.
[Link] on "What-If Analysis" and choose "Goal Seek."
[Link] the Goal Seek parameters for Average :
Set Cell: Choose cell E5
To Value: Type 75 (to achieve an average of 75%).
By Changing Cell: Choose cell E4 so that average will be 75%
and marks needed in term 2 will be calculated automatically.
Step 7 : Click "OK." Excel will calculate the average of required
marks in Term 2 for total distinction(75%).
Step 8 : Repeat the Goal Seek steps for Mathematics ,Science
and English.

Step 9: Verify the Results
After using Goal Seek, cells B4, C4, and D4 will display the marks
needed in Term 2 to achieve a 75% average in each subject.
