What is IELTS Waiver? Types/Basis of Waiver?

IELTS Waiver
If the students have English as the medium of instruction throughout their academic life and
overall good grades, then an admission committee may waive the IELTS requirement.

Types/Basis of Waiver?
  Affirmative waiver: In an affirmative waiver, your neglect or failure to enforce
your rights won't be considered a waiver of your rights. This means that you must
expressly let the other party know that you're waiving your right to make the
waiver effective.
 General waiver prohibition: This type of waiver clause builds on the affirmative
waiver. You not only have to expressly inform the other party that you're waiving
a right in order to enforce it, but you should also state that the waiver of one right
won't automatically result in the waiver of your other rights. In other words, you
need to have a separate expressed statement for every right you intend to waive.
 Written waiver: Under this agreement, a waiver or extension is valid only if the
party who grants it writes it down and signs it. If the waiver isn't written and
signed, you won't be able to enforce your rights.
 Course of dealing waiver: With this kind of waiver, you're able to exercise a
right with the same party even if you had partially or fully waived that right before.
This is the case regardless of whether you enforce the right while you're under
the same contract or a subsequent one as you continue to have a relationship
with the other party. Keep in mind that this waiver clause doesn't specify how you
can or can't waive the "first" right. Instead, it only focuses on the fact that the
waiver of that first right doesn't waive other rights.
 Complete non-waiver: The complete non-waiver clause is a combination of the
affirmative waiver, the general waiver prohibition, and the course of dealing
waiver. It isn't uncommon for waiver clauses to incorporate more than one type of
waiver, such as this one.

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is designed to help you work, study

or migrate to a country where English is the native language.

IELTS has two types: IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training. Both tests assess your
English language skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking. Read below to find out more
information on each test.

What format can you write IELTS in?

There are two IELTS tests available, IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training. Both
tests are graded in exactly the same way.

You’ll take the first three parts of the test on the same day, in the following
order: Listening, Reading and Writing (there are no breaks between these tests). Your Speaking
test will be held either on the same day or seven days before or after that, depending on local
arrangements.

Video-Call Speaking test

From July 2020, some of our IELTS test centers will start delivering the IELTS Speaking test via
video calls. This means more flexibility and more availability of IELTS Speaking tests.

You will take the Video-Call Speaking test at an official IELTS test center with the same high
standard of identity verification. The test will be exactly the same as the in-person Speaking test
in terms of content, scoring, timing, level of difficulty, question format and security
arrangements. Delivered by an IELTS Speaking Examiner, the video-call Speaking test will
maintain the face-to-face feature of the in-person Speaking test.

This test is currently available in Albania, Egypt, Hong Kong, Malaysia, North
Macedonia, Oman, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab
Emirates, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.

Who are co-owners? Who is the exam conducting body in India?

IELTS is jointly owned by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge
English. As internationally focused organizations, we are committed to academic
excellence and cultural understanding – ideal providers of international English testing.
IDP INDIA conduct IELTS tests at several test locations across the length and breadth of the
country. IELTS exam is conducted 48 times a year to assess students' and job applicants'
proficiency in the English language.

General Vs Academic IELTS?

As suggested above, the main aim of Academic IELTS vs General IELTS is to check the
candidate’s ability to read, write, listen, and speak English. The test format of the
speaking and listening sections is the same for candidates appearing for the IELTS
general and academic tests. However, the writing and reading sections are different.
The writing, listening, and reading modules of the IELTS tests are held on the same day
without any break. The speaking section which is a face-to-face interview round can be
completed one week before or after the other tests. It depends on the availability of
slots at the test center. The entire duration of the test lasts 2 hours and 45 minutes.
IELTS Reading test (Different for both)
Academic Reading
Some of the differences between the Academic and General IELTS are in the Reading
section. This section is designed to test the reading abilities of a person and consists of
40 questions. The allotted time for the test is 60 minutes. The candidate is asked to
read different passages and answer the questions accordingly. This particular section is
designed for testing higher education aspirants or working professionals.
The test includes reading three long paragraphs that can be factual, analytical, or
descriptive. These paragraphs are taken from journals, magazines, research works,
newspapers, or books. The candidate needs to answer related questions after reading
the passages.
General Reading Test
This section is designed to check the reading skills of a person and it consists of 40
questions. These have to be answered within one hour. Candidates are provided with
passages related to company guidelines, advertisements, brochures, and so on. It is
believed that this test is relatively easier than the academic test. The passages contain
words that are encountered regularly.
IELTS Writing Test (Different for both)
Academic Writing Test
In this test, candidates are asked to write on different topics related to their
undergraduate and postgraduate studies. They are required to complete the test in one
hour. In the first task, a paper containing either tables, graphs, or diagrams is handed to
the candidate.
The candidate needs to define the visual information in their own words. Additionally,
they could be asked to explain a flowchart. In the other tasks, candidates need to write
an essay based on the data. They also need to support the data with the correct
examples. The writing style should be strictly formal.
General Writing Test
In this section, the candidate needs to write about topics of general interest. The tasks
need to be completed within one hour. For the first task, the candidate needs to write a
formal, semi-formal, or personal letter on a situation presented to them. They need to
explain the given request or argument.

An IELTS Test Report Form (TRF) is valid for two (2) years

What are TRF & ATRF?

Beyond these five, any Additional Test Report Forms (ATRFs) will involve an administrative
charge of INR 250 per university. The TRFs are sent to universities either electronically or
physically. Candidates who have taken paper-based IELTS exam, receive their IELTS score
and their TRF on the 13th day after the exam.

What is the IELTS exam fee?

In India, both IELTS academic exam fee and IELTS general exam fee have the same prices,
which is ₹15,500.

IELTS exam fee for check cancellation & rescheduling

Rs 3,300 inclusive of all taxes for the transfer of the test date. Candidates can reschedule the
IELTS exam only once. You will not receive any refund or any rescheduling option if you fail to
give the IELTS test on the second date.
