Q:1- What is a QWERTY keyboard? Why is it called so? (Ref – book page 32)
Ans: The QWERTY keyboard is the Standard English language keyboard based on Latin alphabet.
The first six alphabet keys of the topmost row are Q, W, E, R, T and Y. That is why these
keyboards are called QWERTY keyboards.
Q:2- how many keys a QWERTY keyboard have?
Ans: 104 keys
Q:3- Defines keys.
Ans: A keyboard consists of a number of buttons called keys. A keyboard has alphabet keys,
numeric keys and special keys.
Q: 4- Write in short about each of the following keys on the keyboard. (Ref – book page 32)
Caps Lock: the caps lock key is a toggle key that lets you switch the letters on your keyboard
from lowercase to uppercase.
Backspace: the backspace key has a pointing arrow marked on the key on its left side. It erases
the character to the left of the cursor. It helps to correct your mistakes quickly.
Shift: There are two shift keys on the QWERTY keyboard. Shift key is always used with the
combination of other keys.
Q:5- What is toggle key?
Ans: Toggle key is a key that changes two modes or function each time you press it. Once you
press this key ON, next press puts it OFF and so on. Example: Caps lock key, Num Lock key
