CHAPTER III
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
This chapter will explain the method adopted by the researchers. This chapter will
mention every component involved in conducting this research design, the sample, data
gathering procedures and the research instrument.
RESEARCH DESIGN
This study is a quantitative research study which focus on the experience of individual
who are taking the prevalence and severity of mental health issues within the GRADE-12
GAS students. It is also stated that quantitative research methods is used to describe how
GRADE-12 GAS students had this certain experience.
As the study, the interview will be conducted so that the researcher can ask question to the
correspondent during the survey questionnaire if clarification and further explanation will be
needed. The respondent subjective and objective perception are expected to form the core
data of the study.
According to Oakley, Quantitative interview is the type of hard work in which the practice
and standards be not only recorded, but also achieved, manage and as well as reinforced.
Interview are particularly useful for getting the story behind the participants experience. The
interview can pursue in depth insight around the topic.
SAMPLING METHOD
This study research, simple random sampling method use where upon all of the GRADE-
12 GAS students in Masbate National Comprehensive High School, has a chance of being
selected as a respondent of thistle seed research work.
The researcher selected 150 respondents to gather date among the GRADE-12 GAS
students of MNCHS. Simple random sampling is a technique where every item in the
population has an even chance and livelihood of being selected.
Simple Random Sampling every student in the target population has an equal chance of
being selected. This method is ideal for ensuring representativeness but can be challenging to
implement in practice, especially with large populations.
DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE
The researcher had allotted vigorous time effort and cooperation in developing their
questionnaire as to serve its intended respondents. The survey created using suitable question
modified from related research and individual each question formed by the researchers.
The researcher made a letter for the approval of the teacher for their permission and also we
made an approval to the principal to get in order to conduct a survey inside the main campus
of Masbate National Comprehensive High School in order to complete the data needed and to
be analyze the information in our study. Also we made a letter to the respondent as our
representative to this study research and answer the survey questionnaire that distributed. And
we also made parent consent to get their permission to have a group survey, this parent
consent is one of the important that they agreed for having survey neither there’s an accident
happen.
After collecting all data that researcher gathered from the respondents. This study will be
analyzed and organized the collecting data.
RESEARCH INSTRUMENT
In this study, the researcher will be the questionnaire. The questionnaire is a set of
orderly arranged questions carefully prepared to answer by a group of people to designed to
collect facts and information and it will have a 8 questions.
Give the respondents a time to answer the question. The researcher used a quick quiz
questionnaire that will be based on topic, the topic will be about the Prevalence and severity
of mental health issues among grade12 GAS students of MASBATE NATIONAL
COMPREHENSIVE HIGH SCHOOL.
The scale consists of questionnaire that will be used in this chapter is 8 questions, and
mostly of the questionnaire have a strong questions and the respondent should answer it with
the strong reasons that are based on the topic. The instruments elicits the experience of the
participants regarding the prevalence and severity of mental health issues of the students in
Masbate National Comprehensive High School. The researcher made use of survey
questionnaires were composed of three part. The first part is the socio demographic profile of
the respondents which include their name, age, and grade level. Second part you ever been
encountered if it is good handling or managing of a mental health as Grade-12 GAS students.
Third , how can you able to balance you time during your studying and school activities in
any other purpose of during performance task between studying. The question written on the
questionnaire were based on the researcher curiosity about the subject matter. The purpose of
the questionnaires was to help the researcher gather collect enough pieces of data to further
determine the school life.
