SRI SHARADA VIDYA NIKETANA - ANNUAL DAY

ANCHORING SCRIPT

Anirudh: Good evening parents, welcome to our annual Day celebrations. I am Anirudh of
class 10.
Nithya: And I am Nithya of class 10 hosting today's event. We are excited to be your host for
this grand evening, brimming with zeal and celebrations
Ani: Exactly! Today we rejoice in our past achievements, envisioning a brighter future. For all
of us here, it is a day of recognition and merry making.
Nithya: And to celebrate this we have chosen a theme that goes with the name 'Soulful
Saga'.
Soulful because the music feeds your soul. And the best way to celebrate this soulful
saga is to include AR Rehman's music for today's event.
Ani: AR Rehman is known for his unique style of blending Indian classical music with
contemporary sounds. This music belongs to a different genre which starts with a soulful
prelude and gives a glimpse of every instrument played in the song.
Nithya: Now without wasting much of your time let's set the evening's ball rolling with a
mesmerizing dance performance from our talented group of class 9.
Parents, put your hands together and welcome them on the stage.
(9th std Performance)
Ani: Wow! What a spectacular performance to open the evening. Let's give them a big
round of applause. They deserve it. Thank you for such an energetic start.
Nithya: I know energies are running high!
Anirudh, do you remember the carefree days of our childhood?
Ani: Yes, I do. In fact I wish I could go back to those days and enjoy it all again.
Nithya: Yes! Those were the days - where we did not have any stress - stress of homework,
stress of exams, etc. Just eat, play, sleep, and repeat. And all we wanted to do was
just fulfill our every 'Choti Si Asha' and just do 'Matar Gashti' (ಮಟರ್ ಗಶ್ತಿ)
Ani: We cannot go back to those days but we can enjoy our tiny tots of the KG section doing
that. Let's welcome them on the stage to perform for the dance number 'Choti Si Asha'
and 'Matar Gashti'.
(KG Performance)
Nithya: Such a wonderful performance by our Little stars - you have mesmerized all of us
with your dance. Let’s give them a big round of applause.
(Turning towards audience)
And parents, you know how they were in the beginning of the year - all crying babies,
and look at what they are today - all confident young lads - such a transformation!!
I hope all the parents out there are happy as all of us here.

Ani: Moving on, we would welcome the students of class 1 on the stage, who will be
captivating us with their dance numbers 'Chuku Buku Raile' and 'Rangeela'.
Nithya: Both were the most popular songs of the 90s. The music, the melody, the song and
the dance will take you to another world!

1
Ani: Let's welcome the boys and girls of class 1 on the stage. (1st std Performance)
Nithya: Thank you kids for your wonderful performance. I believe your performance has
taken the parents to their childhood days.
Anirudh, have you heard the iconic song ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’?
Ani: Yes, I have. In fact it is one of the most popular compositions of AR Rehman.
Nithya: Now, the students of class 2 are going to dance on this masterpiece coupled with the
powerful beats of the song ‘Whistle Baja’.
Ani: Dear audience, please welcome our little performers of class 2 on the stage.
(2nd std performance)
Nithya: That was an amazing one. Thank you for your performance.
Anirudh, do you know the most famed film AR Rehman composed music to?
Ani: Yes I do, It is Lagaan. This film is about villagers revolting against the British, and is
Mainly about the unity in the villagers. The song ‘Chale Chalo’ from this film is best fitting
for this theme.
Nithya: Along with this, there is another song ‘Radha Kaise Na Jale’ from the same film.
This song shows the different emotions of Radha towards Krishna.
Ani: Now, the students of class 5 are going to dance on the songs ‘Radha Kaise Na Jale’
And ‘Chale Chalo’.
(5th std Performance)
Nithya: That was a mind-blowing performance. Thank you guys.

Ani: Nithya, I am very grateful for our heroes, our soldiers who are protecting our borders.
Nithya: Yes, who isn’t grateful for them? We must pay our tribute to those bravehearts who
Are working tirelessly so that we stay peacefully in our homes.
Ani: They are the real patriots who love their motherland. They deserve a tribute, and this is
exactly what the students of class 3 are going to do. Let’s welcome them on the stage.
They are going to dance to the song ‘Lukka Chuppi’.
(3rd std Performance)
Ani: This was really a soulful song. This song speaks about a soldier who let down his life for
the country but his heart still yearns for his motherland and mother, who is sorrowfully
calling her son.
Nithya: The line "Kya batau maa kahan hun main" hits us at a different level. Thank you
friends for such an emotional performance. Let’s give them a big round of applause.

Nithya: Now, I would like to call my friend Priyanka on the stage to take over the anchoring
Rest of the event. (Priya enters)

his iconic songs?

(6th std Performance)
Priya: That was a mesmerizing one. Thank you, friends. The uniqueness of this song lies in
its beats. What's more interesting is that this particular music was also copied or
recreated by foreign artists.

Ani: In recent times the movie 'Kantara' has left a great impact on the people. The movie has
made us understand the importance of divinity, the strength of belief and our
dependency on nature.
The song 'Varaha Roopam' has become a sensational song, which is not a common
thing with many divine songs.
Priya: Now let's welcome the students of class 8 who are going to dance on this divine song
along with the powerful beats of the 'Veerabhadra' song.

Divinity.

Ani: Shiva - the most revered God for all of us. Known as the creator of the universe, and the
destroyer of sin and the sinful, Shiva has many aspects - benevolent, omniscient and
fearsome.
Priya: The dance that will be portrayed by the students of class 10 shows Shiva as a fearful
God - who comes to destroy all the negativity in the world. This dance shows the
emotions of the devotee towards the devoted.
