POINTS AND MOTIONS
1. Appeal of the chair: Used to indicate a breach in the rules of procedure. It's a way for delegates to
ask the chair to correct procedural mistakes.
2. Point of Information: This can refer to a question directed to a speaker during their speech or a
request for clarification about the proceedings.
3. Motion to follow up: following up
4. Point of Personal Privilege: Used when a delegate experiences discomfort affecting their
participation, like not being able to hear a speaker.
5. Point of Procedural Inquiry: A question to the chair about the rules of procedure.
6. Motion to move to Moderated Caucus: Requests a moderated discussion where the chair calls
on delegates to speak for a short time, often used to discuss specific aspects of the topic. Speakers
time and time.
7. Motion to end moderated caucus
8. Motion to move to Unmoderated Caucus: A request for informal discussion where delegates
can move around and speak freely, often used for drafting resolutions and
negotiations. Time mentioned but not speakers time
9. Motion to Introduce a Draft Resolution: Made when a delegate wishes to present a
draft resolution for consideration.
10. Motion to Divide the question / Divide the proposal: Proposes to strikethrough(eliminate)
11. Motion to Amend: Proposes to add a clause or amend (edit) a
clause in the resolution draft. (ALL AMENDMENTS ARE VOTED ON) - through a note
12. Motion to divide the house: Requests a vote where each country's name is called,
and they publicly state their vote.
14. Motion to Resume Debate: Made to bring a tabled topic back for discussion.
15. Motion to Adjourn Meeting: Proposes to end the current session.
16. Motion to Suspend Meeting: Proposes to end the meeting for a certain time or go on
a break.
17. Motion to overrule the chair: everyone must 100% say yes
19. Motion to withdraw: delegate uses this motion when they want to be removed from
the speaker list on their turn to speak
20. Motion to postpone: delegate uses this motion to postpone their opening speeches to
the end
VOTING PROCEDURES
1. 50% + 1 everything
2. Dividing the House (if resolution voting is even we use this to count each vote one by one)
4. Unanimous (to remove the chair, adjourn meeting)
