Writing
Option 1. Sharing a Travel Anecdote
Instructions: Write a 200–250 word description about a memorable travel
experience or anecdote. In your description, you should:
1. Describe the setting and context of your travel experience (e.g., where you were,
who you were with, what you were doing).
2. Narrate the events of the anecdote, including any interesting or unexpected
moments.
3. Reflect on the impact of this experience and why it remains memorable for you.
Tips:
• Use vivid descriptions and sensory details to bring the anecdote to life.
• Use a variety of tenses to narrate the events clearly.
“Years ago, my family and I visited one of the most beautiful places I have ever
seen in my life. It is on a hidden corner of the beaches of Oaxaca. Huatulco was a
place where the sea breeze and the great kindness of the locals made you feel at
home. The more we explored, the more I fell in love with this place. The long
beaches, the sunsets, and above all, the food are things that will never fade from
my memory.
Although reaching this beautiful destination was quite challenging due to its narrow
access roads, once you are in the city, it becomes much easier to move around
and explore its various tourist attractions. I remember that as we strolled through
the area, my younger brother started playing with one of the locals. Despite the
limited ability to interact of my brother, the locals didn’t make him feel
uncomfortable but instead adapted to his abilities, and soon, they didn’t want to
part ways.
My favorite spot was probably the surfer's beach, even though my mom almost
drowned there due to the high waves. The view was the most breathtaking of the
entire trip. If you ever visit, I encourage you to explore the boardwalk. It’s located
near the beach and has numerous stalls with souvenirs, snacks, and local
handicrafts. I bought myself a hat, a keychain, and a pineapple snack that was
irresistible at the moment.”
