Rationale/ Introduction

Bato National High School holds a significant activity, the Three-Day


INSET on Higher Order Thinking Skills.
To improve the learner’s higher-order thinking skills and ensure the delivery
of quality education to support learner’s essential needs, teachers must be equipped
with the updated schemes due to the constant changes especially in the field of
education. Thus, education leaders need to have a methodology to answer the
professional development needs and learning packages for Science, Mathematics, and
English Teachers. Indeed, INSET is the perfect avenue for reskilling the teachers with
relevant pedagogical-content knowledge appropriate to the present educational
landscape and for professional growth and development as well.
Successful teaching is a result of the systematic use of appropriate
strategies for delivering and assessing the learning objectives targeted for each lesson
(UNESCO GMR 2014). Therefore, the teacher should be strategic enough and be
innovative in teaching methods to cater the diverse needs of learners. A teacher should
be willing to be trained and improve teaching-learning process because there is no
quality learning, if there’s no quality teaching.
